Maruti SX4

Remember the Authentics sedan concept that Suzuki first showed at the 2013 Shanghai Motor Show and more recently, at the 2014 Auto Expo? Well, the concept is set to pave way for an all-new mid-size sedan – spy shots of which have already surfaced, thanks to Chinese car blog Car News China.

The new Suzuki SX4 S-Cross gets a five-star rating for safety by the Euro NCAP organisation. This is the second vehicle from the carmaker, the first being the Swift, to achieve this high rating.

The Maruti Suzuki YL1 seems to have gotten a Bollywood celebrity status even prior to its launch. The inter web has been constantly fed with spy shots of the car which began with what looked like kindergarten sketches of the car that emerged earlier this month. Since then, images of the exterior and the interior of the car have been spotted which has now culminated with the interior pictures of the rear seats.

It is common knowledge in the industry that Maruti Suzuki is aiming to replace the SX4 sedan with a newer model based on the 2014 S-Cross SX4. The crossover on which the sedan will be based is expected to make its way here next year and now sketches and more details on what is believed to be the sedan have emerged. It is likely that the sedan will draw much of its design and characteristics from the China spec Suzuki Authentics concept car but in much saner form.

The Revenue Department has announced that the Maruti Suzuki SX4 and the Toyota Corolla Altis will now bear an excise duty of 27 per cent rather than the previously announced 30 per cent. The models were previously taxed based on the SUV bracket though they were technically sedan models.
