Maruti Suzuki partners with Delhi Police for a traffic management system

Maruti Suzuki has collaborated with the Delhi Police to bring in transparency and also strengthen the traffic law enforcement. They plan to implement a Traffic Safety Management System (TSMS) in the city to also improve road safety.

This TSMS is a set-up which includes cameras installed at many locations. This in turn comes paired with speed violation detection system (SVDS), red light violation detection system (RLVDS), automatic challan system and even an automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) system. At present, the system will cover a stretch of 14km including the Ring road corridor from Dhaula Kuan to Sarai Kale Khan on 10 major junctions. It will later cover more regions too.

There is already a similar system in place in Mumbai. Now, Maruti Suzuki has partnered with the Delhi Traffic Police to set this up in the national capital. Both have signed a memorandum of agreement (MoA) in presence of Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways and Anil Baijal, Lt. Governor of Delhi. Maruti Suzuki will be responsible for setting the TSMS up and maintain it for two years, while the Delhi Police will take charge of its operation. It’s a good step as we believe this will not only help to enforce traffic laws, but also create awareness and inculcate discipline amongst drivers.
