Jaguar might launch the facelifted XJ in 2015

Jaguar has been testing the facelifted version of their flagship sedan, the XJ, extensively. According to a website, the refreshed car will be launched in the UK by next year.

We can easily figure out from these images of the current Jaguar XJ and the revamped version, that the 2015 version has a redesigned front and rear bumper. The side intakes are refreshed in a similar fashion to the ones on the facelifted XF. The casing for the chrome exhaust pipes is redesigned as the facelifted car gets rounded ones. The design of the alloy wheels is a bit different and the registration plate housing seems to have decreased in size. The carmaker might not make any changes to the interiors as they had upgraded them recently last year.

We do not expect Jaguar to make any changes on the mechanical front to the XJ. This means, the current engine options which include the 2.0-litre Ecoboost petrol, 3.0-litre petrol, 3.0-litre diesel and the 5.0-litre V8 supercharged petrol will be carried over.  These engines are mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox.

The Jaguar XJ has been running on the roads since 2009. Jaguar doesn’t want to stay behind when many other manufacturers have been updating their premium sedans. These include the recently launched new Mercedes-Benz S–Class, the revamped Audi A8 and the facelifted Porsche Panamera. 

Currently, the Jaguar XJ available in India is sold through the CBU route. The facelifted variant of the car might be made available in our country next year within a few months after its global launch. On the other hand, Jaguar is also testing the 2015 variant of the XF which was spotted testing recently in Pune. We expect this entry-level saloon to be launched before the launch of the Jaguar XJ in India.
