- Toyota has flagged off Etios Motor Racing (EMR) in India with an exhibition race at the MMRT (Madra Motor Racing Track) in Chennai. Another exhibition race will be held tomorrow along with other fun activities including children learning zone and karting. Toyota’s new campaign around EMR is called, Waku Doki, which means excitement, fun and joy.
- The same Etios that earlier India specific will now also be exported to Brazil, along with South Africa. Toyota has decided to offer the twins (Etios and Liva) in Latin American market starting September. The hatchback prices are expected to be around 35,000 Brazilian Real (Rs 9 lakh) and sedan should cost 48,000 real (Rs 13 lakh), due to high import duty in Brazil.
- SSC (formerly Shelby SuperCars) have announced one last version of once world’s fastest car – Ultimate Aero TT. This special edition will be called the Ultimate Aero XT and will be powered by the 6.9-litre twin-turbo unit building 1300bhp that will be used in its successor, Tuatara. Only five of these exclusive cars will be built and what really makes them special is that the owners will get to choose the paint scheme, which will never be repeated by SSC again.
- IndianAutosBlog has reported that the new 2012 Toyota Camry will be launched in India on 24 August. The new Camry was displayed at the 2012 Auto Expo and we were expecting the premium sedan to be rolled-out in third-quarter of 2012. - Volkswagen is now offering the automatic transmission for their smallest hatchback, the Up!, in UK market as an additional extra on order. This is not the dual-clutch gearbox we regularly see on the VW cars, but a simple 5-speed AT that will cost extra 595 Pounds (approx. Rs 51,000). The Up! is currently been tested for India, but we don’t think this version will be offered in India at the time of the launch.
