Maruti Versa DX Reviews
4.0/5
(1 Ratings) 1 Reviews
Versa, 8 seater version with single AC.
Exterior Compact appearance with an attractive snub nose.
Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Driver and co-driver are generally more comfortable than passengers in the middle and rear rows. The jump seat is very convenient to use. The floor mats at the last row did not have appropriate cut outs to accomodate the seat belt positioning.
Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox
1. All in all the feedback is good. The driver has a very good view of the road and oncoming traffic.
2. I had to have the clutchplate "skimmed" after around 25,000 km and the liner changed after experiencing clutch judder.
3. The service center seems to service the brakes each time the car is serviced. I don't know whether this is really needed.
4. Fuel economy in the city was 12km/l and 14.6 km/l on the expressway with AC working most of the way.
Ride Quality & Handling Road holding and cornering was OK and I never faced a problem with stability.
Final Words I have done 32,300 km or so in 6.5 yrs and have gone in for a Swift which I have as yet to receive. I hope it will deliver to my expectations. The car was a good asset and served the purpose for which I had purchased it. Now that the purpose has been completed I have decided to go in for another car. The car has been discontinued from manufacture but I would recommend it highly.
A friend also bought a new Versa after confirming with me and checking out my car and is still happy with his decision.
Areas of improvement
1. The spare wheel positioning is such that it is held clamped by a cross member and the wheel is positioned such that air cannot be filled without taking off the wheel. Hence you cannot top up the air at a service station conveniently.
2. When installing a maint free Exide battery after 6 yrs of running I found that the height of the terminal posts were more than the original battery and hence ran the risk of the terminals shorting due to the aluminium foil cum foam insulation layer that is put under the co-driver's seat. I overcame this hazard by putting a rubber mat over the battery and reversed the aluminium foil layer.Highway 14.6 km/l, Town 12 km/l ( loading around 4 persons)Bumpy ride
