Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 facelift spotted testing for the first time

Maruti Suzuki seems all set to update the Alto K10 as for the first time spy shots of two test mules have emerged. By the looks of it, the hatchback will get a major cosmetic makeover, though it will most likely retain all the mechanical bits. 

The styling of the facelifted Alto K10 will be inspired by the recently launched Celerio hatchback. The front of the test mule featured a new bonnet, bigger headlamps and a black grille with a chrome strip on the top. The bumper has been updated with new inserts for fog lamps and the OVRMs have also been restyled. The interiors are also expected to get a makeover to freshen up the car.

The Alto K10 facelift will carry the same architecture as the current car. It will continue to house the 1.0-litre petrol K10B unit under its hood, producing 67bhp and 90Nm of torque, mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. 

Datsun recently launched its first product in India, the GO hatchback, which might slowly start eating into the ageing Alto K10’s market share. The Alto K10 continues to be one of the top selling cars in the Indian market and also forms a major chunk of the company’s exports, though it hasn’t been updated since it was launched back in 2010. With this new styling, Maruti Suzuki will hope to cash in on the frenzy created by the Celerio. The Alto K10 facelift is expected to be launched here by the end of this year.
