Lamborghini is now offering the Aventador SVJ in India. This is the even more extreme variant of the Aventador, which has broken the production car lap record at the Nurburgring with a time of 6:44:97, more than two seconds quicker than previous record holder, the Porsche 911 GT2 RS.
The Aventador SVJ was unveiled at The Quail, a Motorsports Gathering, where all the details of the car were revealed in Monterey, California. SVJ stands for SuperVeloce Jota, a designation that differentiates it as the hard-core track model from the Sant’Agata Bolognese line-up. It looks similar to the Aventador but features a new, wider front end with a disconnected front splitter and a rear wing.
Another highlight is the ALA 2.0, which is an evolution of Lamborghini's fancy active aero system. It's similar to the one on the Huracan Performante and facilitates quick opening or closing of flaps in the body and wing to optimise down-force and drag. However, this is the newest version of ALA, or Aerodynamica Lamborghini Attiva, which is tuned specifically for the SVJ. It's also designed to work in cohesion with the new aero-optimised bodywork, eventually improving down-force by 40 per cent at each axle over the SV.
Power to this SVJ comes from the raging bull brand's naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12 engine. It is tuned to produce 759bhp and 720Nm of torque, up by about 19bhp and 30Nm from the SV. Since there's a lot of carbon fibre in its construction, this supercar boasts of a light weight, granting it an impressive power-to-weight ratio. This has also helped the car to catapult to 100kmph from standstill in just 2.8 seconds and reach a top speed of 349kmph.
The carmaker says that the SVJ's magnetic shocks are 15 per cent stiffer than the SV's. The chassis has also been revised to make the most of ingredients like the all-wheel-drive system, electronic stability control system and the rear-wheel steering. The supercar rides on super light 'Nireo' aluminum alloys shod with specially developed Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres as standard. Interestingly, the P Zero Trofeo R competition tyres, which were used to set the aforementioned record are also available.
The Italian supercar legend has not revealed a price for the SVJ as each car sold will be unique to its buyer. The first Aventador SVJ in India has been handed over to Boopesh Reddy of Bren_Garage fame.
