Indian Oil Corporation has now begun delivering fuel through mobile dispensers in Chennai which is a first of its kind. The fuel delivery vehicle fitted with a mobile dispenser and 6,000-litre fuel tank was flagged off at the inaugural event held at the Indian Oil Petrol Pump in Kolathur, Chennai. At present, the industrial and bulk customers, who require fuel (Diesel) have to visit the nearest retail outlet to fill fuel in containers/barrels.
The unique initiative aims to make it convenient for the customers to get the fuel delivered to their doorstep. The service christened as 'Fuel @ Doorstep' would ensure hassle-free supply of fuel to end-users, which would avoid unnecessary fuel spillage, unsafe handling of fuel in containers/barrels and pilferage too. According to Indian Oil, to make use of the service the customer can place orders through a mobile app, with a minimum order quantity of 200-litre and for quantities exceeding 2,500-litre, the customer would need to have PESO license for storage.
