The country’s first quadricycle, the Bajaj Qute was introduced in the country earlier this year in a phased manner. The quadricycle is currently available in petrol and CNG options. This time around, a Qute-based electric quadricycle has been spied on test in India with a QCar badge at the rear. However, the test mule is a ‘Left Hand Drive’ (LHD) version, which suggests that the vehicle will be exported to the international markets.
Visually, the Bajaj QCar does not appear to have received any major updates over the standard model. It is believed that the electric version of the Qute will be first introduced in the international markets and might be launched in India at a later date. The gasoline powered Bajaj Qute gets a 216cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled DTSi engine that generates 13bhp of power at 5,500rpm and 18.9Nm of torque at 4,000rpm. The CNG variant, on the other hand, produces 11bhp at 5,500rpm and 16.1Nm of torque at 4,000rpm. The DTSi engine is mated to a dashboard-mounted five-speed sequential manual transmission that is capable of attaining a top speed of 70kmph.
