Now the laws of the land tend to vary a bit from our homeland apart from the fact that most people actually follow the rules abroad. You must adjust the headlamp beam pattern according to the left or right hand driving suit followed in the country so that the dipped beam doesn't dazzle oncoming drivers. The legal requirement is to 'not cause dazzle to oncoming drivers'. Remember that if your vehicle comes with fog lamps then you have to make sure that they are functioning irrelevant of the fact that you are using it or not. If you are driving in Europe then make sure the car you hire has daytime lamps. This year onwards all the cars have to have daytime running lights. Even if the car you're hiring is an old car the vehicle must have an after market kit. The purpose of daytime lights is to prevent accidents on the road during the daytime hours, in which the natural ambient light is low. The vehicles could have either hardwired lights that automatically turn on when the engine turns over or by requiring all drivers to manually turn their headlights on while driving during daytime hours.
