Ford has revived the Puma moniker in its line-up but, this time around, and in keeping with Ford’s latest car philosophy - it’s a crossover! The Puma is based on the same platform as the latest generation Fiesta hatchback and that’s quite visible in the design as well as the feature list.
In profile, you can see the lines of the Fiesta but with a lot more crossover (ness) as compared to the Fiesta Active. Highlights include the grille, roofline, oval tail lamps and bug-eyed headlamps that pay tribute to the original Puma.
Inside, you get a touchscreen infotainment system, fully digital instrument cluster and a grey and black trim with glossy inserts on the dashboard and doors. Ford has also given the Puma a host of driver assist technologies as well as safety features as a part of the package.
For now, Ford has said that this new Puma will be offered with the 1.0-litre EcoBoost motor in both standard and hybrid versions. The latter gets a 48V mild hybrid technology and with a higher output over the standard engine.
This new Puma will be produced at Ford’s Romania plant and will go on sale across various European countries by the end of the year. The car will make its official debut at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show.
