Lamborghini is set to unveil their “first super SUV” to the world on 4 December. Ahead of the Lambo SUV’s premiere, we expected a plethora of teasers from the Italian marquee. But, by a twist of fate, we got a little more than just the teasers. Lamborghini accidentally revealed the car in the infotainment system in their latest teaser.
First, Lamborghini revealed a teaser video showcasing the all-new SABBIA driving mode. A Lamborghini first, SABBIA (Italian for sand) is a part of the carmaker’s ANIMA (Adaptive Network Intelligence Management) drive selector. The Urus will also come with five other driving modes – Strada, Sport, Corsa, Terra (land), and Neve (snow). Lamborghini followed up with the teaser videos highlighting the Neve and Terra modes.
However, when the Corsa (race) mode was selected in the latest teaser video, the camera panned on to the centre console where we could see the new Urus SUV in all its glory. We also get a glimpse of two digital screens dominating the centre console and the stylish ANIMA selector. There is a flip-switch similar to the Aventador, and the Jet plane style lever as well.
Now it is clear that the Urus will be based on the same MLB Evo platform as the Audi Q7, Porsche Cayenne, Bentley Bentayga and the upcoming Volkswagen Toureg. The high-riding Bull will be powered by a 4.0-litre V8 belting out more than 650bhp and a whopping 850Nm of torque. The power will be channelled to all four wheels via a ZF eight-speed torque converter; a first for Lamborghini. It will also have a four-wheel-steering. But don’t expect a bigger 6.0-litre V12 for the Lambo SUV. Nevertheless, the high-riding Lambo can reach a ton in mere 3.7seconds and have a top speed of 300kmph, according to the Italian marque. Lamborghini boasts that the SUV tips the scale at 2,154 kilograms.
The Raging Bull will be fitted with massive 17.3-inch carbon ceramic rotors for the front axle paired with 10-piston callipers. While at the rear, there will be 14.6-inch discs coupled with four pistons. The SUV will ride on 21-inch wheels wrapped in bespoke Pirelli P Zero Corsa tyres. The tyres will come with an “L” insignia for Lamborghini as seen on the exclusive hypercar, the Centenario.
The Urus will be manufactured at the same factory in Sant’ Agata Bolognese, Italy along with the other two Raging Bulls. The SUV Lambo is promised to double the production capacity of the plant when it rolls out in 2019. Stay tuned to CarWale for more updates on the upcoming Lamborghini Urus.
