- New 2.9-litre twin-turbocharged V6 – 444bhp of power
- New generation F5 series based on ninth-gen MLB platform
- Launched globally in 2017
- Expected price – Rs 1.25 crores to Rs 1.4 crores
Audi will launch the new generation of their mid-weight sportscar, the Audi RS5 Coupe, on 11 April. The two-door performance coupe will join the A5 Sportback, the A5 Cabriolet and the S5 as the fourth offering on the new ninth-generation of the MLB platform. The Audi RS5 will compete against the BMW M4 Coupe in the Indian car market.
The second-gen RS5 is lighter than its predecessor and the so is its new engine. Instead of the V8, you now get a smaller 2.9-litre V6 twin-turbocharged petrol engine with the exact same horsepower as before – 444bhp but 100Nm of torque more than its predecessor. Mated to the eight-speed Tiptronic gearbox, power is sent to all four wheels through the famous Quattro all-wheel drive system.
In terms of design, not much has changed but if you delve deeper, the car is all-new with wider grille, sharper creases and the all-new headlamps. The cabin continues to be luxurious, befitting a top-of-the-line Audi with Alcantara leather seats and almost everything adjustable at the flick of a switch.
