Exterior It has wonderful cute exterior. The side fins and curvaceous looks makes it very zippy. its compact but veyr spacious from inside.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The AC is amazing. also, the interioirs are also good. lots of space.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The engine is a little noisy but the pick up and torque is amazing. it races on highways wonderfully. The fuel economy is also better than any other small petrol car.

Ride Quality & Handling Although the power steering is not there, the drive is very comfortable and turning is quite smooth.

Final Words This is a small wonder with amazing drive, huge space and zippy looks. I just love this car. great drive and any city dweller with small family (young couple, small kids) who is looking out for a car, this is the perfect one!

Areas of improvement NVH is an area of improvement for Nano.

Good space, good mileage, good pick-up, very good AC, good driving comfortLittle noisy,

Exterior Depends on personal preference, I like the cute looks. Paint good

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) More cabin space than any other small car. . Nano has all features of full option small cars EXCEPT POWER STEERING. To mention specifically, tinted glass, left side rear view mirror, fog lamp, rear spoiler, stop lights at roof and bumper, central locking, front power window, music system, alloy wheels. Ground clearance and Interior space (yes; Until you get into nano, u will not believe this!) are more than all other small cars.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine is under powered. Gear ratio too high for city. Maximum speed I have achieved is 90 km/hr with 4 persons and A/C switched on. With just two occupants and A/C switched off, the speedo touches 100.  Hard and competitive highway driving gave a milage of 19 km with A/C on. With 4 occupants and A/C switched on, near ideal driving without any hard breakings or accelerations and with speedo never touching 80 mark, gave a milage of 22 km for highway driving. This I feel is the maximum milage in actual highway driving. The company claimed 25 km/L may be with one or two occupants and A/C switched off, I feel. Nano goes out of breath in 4th gear when engaged at speeds of 30 or 40, so city driving will involve almost exclusive lower gear drive and milage is poor. Gear shift is ok, but not in the league of modern day cars.

Ride Quality & Handling Ride is quite bumpy. Nano steering is real tight when stationary. And so parking into tight slots is unpleasant. Breaks are drums like old gen cars, but appears power assisted. stops promptly without wavering at speed of 80 km/hr. Noise vibration levels of nano is unacceptably high. At high rev the noise is disturbing and the vibrations are transmitted to passenger compartment and steering wheel.

Final Words If its ok for you to shell out an additional one lakh plus a little additional money for routine maintenance expense, I would not recommend nano. However if you want to save one lakh, then nano is a good option (a well maintained used car is another option); nano has all features of any other small car except power steering; u ve a car with more cabin space than any other small car; and you have a car which is more economical to run and maintain. The negatives are the underpowered engine, and noisy bumpy ride.

Areas of improvement TATA must stop marketing this car as a cheap car. That has back fired. Even the guys buying small cars these days do not want cheap cars. TATA must consider power steering, water cooled engine and change in gear ratio (avoid overdrive for top gear). It will still cost lower than any other small car and so will attract buyers.

Price, appearance, cabin space, A/C, ground clearanceNoise & vibration, underpowered engine, lack of power steering

      Hello,

I bought NANO emax XM in April 2016, Many of my colegues asked to me change my decision of buying NANO. I was afread of taking NANO to long ride and ghats because of 625 CC engine and things heard from people. Last week I visited Matheran from Pune. After that I am very happy with my decision. NANO can reach top of Matheran which is one of the most steep ghat. I travelled with full load inside and 350 KM in one day. So no doubt about performance of NANO emax XM. I spend only 420 Rs for Fuel (CNG) and 60 Rs for Petrol for traveling to Matheran (With AC) which is cheaper than my two wheeler running cost. Also which is less than Toll I paid during whole travel. If you are buying car for good performace and travel need, this is BEST. If you are buying car for status then DONT TAKE NANO. But with my experience with NANO I will say Kuch toh log kahenge logon ka ka hai kehna.

fuel economy, Powerfull AC, Space, stylish look, compac in size - best for parking and traficKuch to log Kahenge... Poor People's car

Tata Nano is better options than true value cars. Tata is pocket friendly. You ask for discount and Dealer/Tata company will give you much discount on price shown on Websites CarWale/cardekho/zigwhels etc compare to any other auto maker. Visit showroom I will say.

No waiting for months to get delivery. You can service to any dealer any part of country regardless of your purchase dealer. No hidden costs. I have Nano CNG XM 2017 model which is far better than Nano petrol. Easy switch to convert petrol to CNG & CNG to petrol. Nano start and run in CNG without raising the vehicle or try not to worry on which fuel you are using. Display electronic is very nice shows accurate level of CNG and CNG indicator.

Programmed ECU quality is above average. Build quality from inside is premium. AC is power full. No pickup lag in CNG while AC is ON. Small but usable boot from seat backside. Space front seat and back seat you will not get in cars above this segment. Car Height is far more 6 inch more than Alto Eon Redigo Kwid Go. Plus you get company fitted CNG in price more than 1 lakh less than Alto. You are middle class you can use 1 lakh elsewhere.

Nano is functional. Low rpm engine noise like bullet but that is unique characteristic sound designed by company of vehicle. You must not concern with sound of vehicle and enjoy car ride safe than 2 wheeler. You must avoid low rpm like speed is low and you are on high gear like 3rd etc to avoid bullet like sound. No power steering is required in this. Without power steering you will move steering easily. Reverse is powerful. Only bonet quality like banding rebranding while high pressure with hand but that will happen in all 2018 vehicles as companies offering more milage and light weight vehicles.

Shape of vehicle from front is unique and may not suite you but ultimately it is a car that run. 4 kg CNG you can fit in upto 100Km. 30 Average in CNG and 22 plus in petrol. Suspension is nice. Ride quality is very good. Tata has designed Nano with much thinking. No music system but you can have it speakers provided .I use old Nokia mobile which has full battery a day to listen speaker FM without messing with vehicle warranty of 4 years or 60000km. Maruti will not give you this much warranty or any auto maker.

All you need in a car Nano car have it. Glass used is better quality. Fitment quality is good. Horn wire is sometimes loose in new Nano and little playing with horn wire will start it. Sealing tap you have to press hard. No major issue. I have to do once. On CNG nano is cheaper than 2 wheeler. Rs. 2 per km on highway/city for four person. Insurance premium is 6000 which far less than others.

Rs.500 a month compare to others which are Rs.1000 a month you will run or not run a vehicle. Go and have a test drive Nano. Gear shifting is easy functional gear box. Breaking is effective. Tata has worked on everything. Headlight beam to its switch everything. Doors make noise on bumpy roads though they are closed properly but that much is acceptable. My front door co-driver side locks from inside but would be fixed in service or down window and open from outside. This happened in Tata sumo also. Rest door are functional.

Stop drawing so called resale value cars on EMI and have Nano CNG in 2.50 lakh to 3 lakhs. 2.75 lakhs cash it and forget it why to take tension of EMI. Lowest say 1 lakh re-sale value any body will give you on nano. So have a car in 1.50 lakh that's the Funda of 1 lakh car. Don't be shy in owing 1 lakh car or lakhtakiya car. Go in showroom ride cars and compare & you will find people fear to invest in Tata Nano. Programmed ECU display will show you oil pressure hand brake CNG petrol level. KM driven.

Service indicator. Malfunctioning indicator. Everything. Cabin is roomy. Backseat area is with less thigh support but that's not needed bcoz nobody seats that way. Only bench to seat you will need. Cabin is roomy. Nice car Tata. Turning radius is 4.0 much more than any other. Nano can turn in small space. Ground clearance is much more it's like Tata Safari. Don't run your mind much purchase it and be in a league of so called car-wale people.

I have ride nano twist petrol also steering is much light weight in it but you will not notice difference after you routinely use vehicle.

Exterior Cute is one word but looks are subjective.  I personally like the looks except maybe the front.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Excellent space and seating comfort.  Space for more than 4 people.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Highly inconsistent engine performance.  Idling noise keeps varying.  Can't shift to top gear before reaching 45 kmph so fuel economy inside city suffers (and defeats the purpose of this car).  Highway fuel economy with a/c is good but performance with more than 2 people is questionable.  Gearbox is good.

Ride Quality & Handling Have to slow down to 5 kmph over smallest of speedbreakers. On anything less than perfect roads, ride quality becomes very uncomfortable. Poor a-pillar visibility can throw nasty surprises in city conditions.  Handling is good though.

Final Words Not good for highway use and for full capacity runs with a/c. Storage space is behind backseat and with no boot, makes it inaccessible.  Have to offload backseat passengers to reach luggage area.  Accessing luggage area is another chore.  Servicing by local mechanics will be a challenge as you need to be a yoga expert to reach the engine bay.  I heard this car cannot be raised on a ramp (never seen one on a ramp on so many of my frustrating visits to concorde motors service...so prospective buyers please check).  Other issues I had was 1) failure of a/c twice, battery was bad from day one giving staring trouble but it took them 4 months of negation to accept the problem.  Even the started motor was changed.  I experienced brake failure once at low speed and was told it could be due to a faulty coil (which was reported in other nanos) And, 2.05 lacs on road, there are much better options at only a few thousands more.  This car is just not worth it.

Areas of improvement TASS remains the sinlgle biggest grouse.  Till that is sorted out, buying any tata product is buying trouble.  Apart from that, nano is strictly work in progress.  Battery placement under driver's seat is not a good idea I hear.  Lack of left ORVM is another bad thing.  Differently sized front and back tyres with stepney only for front wheel spells doom for highway runs.  Tata says you can run the car at 40 kmph with the stepney fitted at the back.  The question is, do you want to be in such a situation at all in the first place.

Easy to drive, interior spaceProblematic, ineffective a/c, performance with full load on highways

      Hi,

I am Santhosh  Janardanan, Management Consultant specializing in policy making, business turnaround, process and product performance improvements.

I have recently bought a Tata Nano LX from Manakular Motors Pondicherry. Nano is my 5th car purchase. I started with a Maruti 800 in 1985, then an Omni, a Tata Estate, Omni and a Wagon R.I have had a driving close to 300,000 kms so far. Before buying I took a test drive a few months before and was satisfied with the performance. I have also read a few reviews which gave a comfort feel. The sales person Mr.Jaffer and his manager Mr.Arun were truly good professionals and I had a delightful buying experience. I took delivery of the Nano on 24th October. Its an LX model lunar silver car.

My first ride was Pondicherry to Chennai about 150 kms and it was a remarkable journey. The car was zippy and was cruising at 70-80 kmph smoothly overtaking Scorpios, Skodas in a very normal way. I could feel others looking at my Nano in an awe. It was night around 8pm and slightly drizzling. The head lights and wiper was doing really well. I found the air conditioner a little too powerful (it's rare in cars). I reached home at about 9pm and everyone of the family was thrilled at our new possession.

The next day, I got the car fitted with sun control film and a Roots horn ( the standard horn is very feeble as in most cars). On 27th I have started the journey to Bangalore at 4am. A smooth ride of about 370kms. I reached at 10.30. The car has quite good road grip and stable while turning, however it is always best to be at slow speeds while negotiating a curve. The ground clearance is pretty good and I have not yet had any problems with the various kinds of speed breakers in our country!

Driving experience within Bangalore is another thing where gear shifting is the most regular activity. Nano's gears are quite smooth. I really have not checked the fuel economy but feel that its around 20kmpl. Nano is an absolute best for daily use. Its excellent for family ride. The only problem you will face with family is that, there is not much luggage space if four people are in the car. Other than that it's a marvel and great value for money.

I have a few things to suggest to Tata Motors.

These are some improvements, which will make this car an absolute success.

      1. There should be a glove box, even two on both sides as the car needs some storage space
badly. There is enough space to do that.

      2. Should have vanity mirror on the left sunshade at least in the LX version.

      3. The power window switches need to be at the other side of the gear lever, as it is a little too far
          now.

      4. There should be magazine pockets behind the front seats (for LX). The rods behind the front
seats should be neatly covered, so the aesthetics will be better.

      5. A watch with a temp. indicator can be offered as an optional accessory.

      6. A special FM radio with an USB and Bluetooth music player for mobile with a charger (optional).
This will be ideal for executive use. Can even have a laptop charger.

      7. More color options like white, black, dark gray, red, blue and green.

      8. An optional roof luggage rack ( this should be possible for the basic model too)

      9. The ad. campaigns should be changed to give it a different perspective, than the cheapest car.
It should be the most innovative car with the greatest value for money. It can have another
model, may be a VX model with all the above options.

Thanks to TATA MOTORS for bringing out a good car.

For those considering buying, just go ahead and buy it. It’s worth the money.

Great style, good response, easy to maneuver, comfortable seating, fantastic A/cNothing much except a few small improvements.

Exterior Well I bought  the new colour Neon rush, initially i dindt like the colour but as days past I developed my taste toward the colour and to my senses this is the best colour for the Nano than ythe rest with green body and black bumpers its looks sexy and makes people turn heads and give a smile, I am loving that.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Inside the cabin its a complete different story,i must say Tatas have done an extremly wonderful job by creating so much space that one doesnt feel like a small car but there is a small problem to use the boot one has to pull the seats down which is a bit odd and not useful once again there is big problem as ur luggage might get hot in the boot area  becoz the engines placed underneath. the AC is quite powerful but make some noise.there is no place for the speakers if u want to install a music system.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox The engine is quite peppy but feels the pinch when the ac is on. with my odo showing 2000km i have achived the best fuel ecomomy 21.3kpl n  the worst to be 16.5 with the ac on all times.

Ride Quality & Handling I pesonaly feel the ride could be better as it give a lot of jolt when driven alone but with 5 passangers its much smooth. City driving is fun, steering is a bit hard when the car is idel, cutting thru traffic is real fun.

Final Words Tata Nano may be small car but has a big car attitude, its a fantastic car if one wants to use as a second car in the family as I wont take this car for my long trips on long vacation as there will be no space for the luggages i usally carry with me.

Areas of improvement The engineers at Tata have achived so many breaking tecnologies in the Nano but forgot to put a glove box in the cabin, the noise of the engine is quite audible, the ride can be made more comfortable when driven alone.

      The colour Neon Rush,AC power,cabin space.Engine sound,suspensions,jerky ride

Exterior: Cute Egg shaped styling, and a happy face, will make you smile everyday. Kids will look and exclaim 'Nano Caaarrrr!,'. It makes a style statement wherever you take it. Yes! People notice this car and will keep looking, Adults and kids alike. The styling may be a bit too unconventional for some people. Can you live with a fixed Rear hatch, Access dicky by folding rear seats and Open the bonnet to fill petrol? I've got used to it.  Nano has Powerful Head and Fog Lights. Tight turning radius, easy 2 make U-Turns and park. 2012 version has lots of new colours on offer.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort):  Show me any other car, that has Nano's small footprint, with the massive interior space, at this price range. And I will change my name. Six footers can stretch their feet, and sit one behind the other, without knees and heads scraping. Completely beats M800, Alto, Santro, i10 and Eon, in interior space. However, lacks sideways space. But 4 tall/hefty people can sit comfortably. Interiors and seats are better than old Nano. No glove box. Plastic quality is acceptable. Accessing the engine bay and refitting back the spare tyre is a pain.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox: Good acceleration, Even with 4 passengers and A/C on, it doesn't feel laboured, due to light 615 kg weight. Handling is predictable & direct. Done 300 kms and get around 17-18 kmpl in city traffic, with occasional use of A/C. Expected to improve after the first service. Need 2 frequently shift gears in traffic. Clutch is a bit sensitive and needs getting used to. Gearshift quality is about ok, but needs a firm push sometimes. Engine noise on the outside, at idle, may be a turn-off for some.

Ride Quality & Handling: Steering is heavy when still. Feels light and very direct on the move. With Independent suspension, ride quality has improved. On very bad roads, it tends to bounce around. Need to drive slowly here.

Final Words: If you spend most of your driving life in the city and rarely on highways. If the EMI/Down-payment of larger cars, gives you shivers. Nano can make your life much easier. Forget the Image factor. End of the day, YOU will Drive/Maintain/Pay the EMI/Fuel bills. Buy what suits your needs, not what other's will think or comment.

Areas of improvement: 1) Gearshift quality. 2) Accessing the Engine-bay and spare tyre is a pain. 3) Miss the glove box. 4) A/C knobs and levers could be made of stronger plastic. 5) Need disk brakes on front wheels. 6) Make the rear hatch openable.

Space, Zippy Performance, Ease of driving, Affordable, Economical and CuteAccessing the engine bay and Stepney is a pain, Engine noise at idle
