Most hatchbacks from Maruti Suzuki have been holding top positions in terms of sales in their respective segments in India. Back in July, the country’s largest automaker earned the top position in the utility vehicle segment. The newest compact SUV, the Vitara Brezza from Maruti Suzuki has helped the company achieve this impressive feat last month.
Along with the Vitara Brezza, the utility vehicle segment sales is contributed to by other models including the Ertiga, Gypsy, S-Cross and the Grand Vitara. The Vitara Brezza registering a 151 per cent growth is primarily the reason behind Maruti Suzuki overtaking Mahindra's sales last month. The numbers have pushed Mahindra to the second place with Maruti selling 17,382 units of the utility vehicles in July in comparison to 15,962 units sold by Mahindra in the same month. Overall, Mahindra still holds the top spot in terms of sales with 71,871 units sold between April to July 2016, in comparison to 56,730 units sold by Maruti in the same period.
Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza is a popular choice in its segment and so the vehicle currently has a waiting period of about 7 to 9 months depending on its variant. The country’s largest automaker had recently hiked Vitara Brezza prices by about Rs 20,000 and is now priced between Rs 7.19 lakh – Rs 9.88 lakh as against the previous price of Rs 6.99 - Rs 9.68 lakh (ex-Showroom, New Delhi).
