Tata to start second shift at Sanand for Tiago production

Tata Motors will start a second shift at its Sanand plant to meet the increase in demand for the Tiago hatchback. It currently runs a single shift to produce the car but will now start a second one to meet the 20,000 unit demand that it has got since bookings began for the hatchback.

It has also been revealed that customers have been giving preference to the petrol variants over the diesel models with regard to the Tiago. We believe that such a trend has come on the back of usage patterns in this part of the car market as well as increase in demand for petrol powered vehicles.

Tata had launched the Tiago for the Indian market on April 6 and have priced it in the range of Rs 3.2 lakh for the entry-level petrol to Rs 5.4 lakh for the top-spec XZ diesel. It is offered in five petrol variants and five diesel variants. This is the replacement for the ageing Indica hatchback in the passenger vehicle market and will soon be followed by the Kite 5 compact sedan.
