New spy pictures of Tata’s all-new SUV, the Harrier, have emerged and it seems that the Indian car maker is pulling out all stops to make this SUV a truly premium offering. While we have already seen the futuristic styling of the exterior, this design principle is also being extended to the cabin.
The picture of the instrument cluster shows a hybrid layout with the LCD/TFT screen and the analog speedometer. The display screen seems to have a good resolution and is not the kind of digital display found in most budget cars. The display quality seems to be good and it shows the rev-counter along with a host of information that the multi-function display offers. It displays everything from the engine temperature, cabin temperature, trip computers, fuel economy log and distance to empty along with the provisions for warning messages.
Presently, we are not sure if the Harrier gets a sport mode as yet. But if it does, the LCD might make the Harrier the first car in its class to have the instrument cluster changing its layout when it is switched to the sport mode. It might also support navigation, but to confirm that, we need affirmation from the company or some time with the actual car, both of which are still a slim possibility. As of now, Tata has been putting some race-track kilometres on the Harrier to make sure it lives up to the S in its SUV.
