A facelifted version of the Renault Duster has been spotted on test ahead of its probable debut at the 2016 Auto Expo. This facelift appears to be based on the Brazilian-spec model and will go into production next month at the Renault-Nissan alliance plant outside Chennai.
This new model is expected to debut the ‘Easy-R’ AMT system for the Indian market and will also make its way into a 1.0-litre version of the Kwid compact hatchback. It is expected to be offered for both diesel and petrol models making it both a five-speed unit as well as a six-speed unit.
Exterior changes that we already know of on this this facelift include a new grille, bumpers and design for the alloy wheels. The cabin was updated in 2014 and is expected to continue with the same. However, it is expected that the MEDIA-NAV system will be a standard feature on the top-spec models.
When the Duster was launched in 2012, it was a revelation in the Indian market. But now nearly four years later, the compact SUV is in need of another major update to stay in the game and this change might just be the thing. Rivals include the Hyundai Creta and some other models from the C-segment.
