Ahead of its official debut sometime in 2020, the new Thar from Mahindra was spotted on test once again with a hard top. The upcoming model will get an updated ladder-on-frame chassis that is believed to be longer and wider than the current model. The new model will also comply with the new crash test norms and will also get the mandatory safety equipment like driver airbag, rear parking sensors, speed alert system and seat belt reminder system.Â
The new Mahindra Thar is expected to get a multi-function steering wheel and a large MID system. The interior is expected to be more welcoming as compared to its predecessors. Mechanically, the new Thar will get a BS-VI compliant 2.0-litre diesel engine that generates 138bhp. This time around, the four-wheel drivetrain is also expected to get a mechanical locking differential. The production-ready model is expected to be showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo.
