      Exterior Better than alto 800.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Boot space less, comfort ok,features average.Due to  less boot space seems as if its a two seater car for tall healthy people.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Better pick up with ac,FE is not upto the mark as claimed by the company.gear box smooth.

Ride Quality & Handling Good pick up with easy handling.

Final Words I have purchased this car only because of mileage which is not upto the mark [15-17kms/lt in city conditions  as mentioned by the company],it is giving 13.8kms/lt only. Its not worth spending. Please compare other cars before purchasing alto k10.Its my sincere advice.Only USP is its the maruti product.I am also driving Wagon R , Beat. Both are good regarding mileage, comfort, handling in city conditions.Very Much dissappointed after purchasing alto k10.To my surprise Beat is giving the same mileage of 13.8 to 13 kms/lt in same city conditions.

Its a mere relacement of old alto 800.

      Areas of improvement Boot space,FE,interiors.

Bought this car for my parents last week after about few months of research on the market. I was all sold over Chevy Spark (after its super smooth Test Drive) and also liked Getz for its value for money. But in the end sense prevailed to me to go for the most fuel efficient, family small car of India.(saved more than a lakh over those cars)

Factors to go for this car:

      Trust of Maruti

Small in size (Best for city use where you don’t need high power)

Very fuel efficient – its only competitor in it segment is good ol’ Maruti 800

      What I liked after buying:

Ease of maneuverability – its power steering is pretty decent

Riding comfort – MPFI engine gives a smooth flow and a better ride

What could have been done better:

AC is not very powerful. Its much low in performance than any of other small cars

Interiors are pretty dull – after more than 8 yrs, Alto deserves a better interior and look

For the same price, Maruti surely can provide body color bumpers and both side rear view mirrors, which are coming at an extra cost currently.

But overall, I will say this is a very good car for:

      First car buyers

People who want to drive mostly in city and hence don’t want a powerful car rather a fuel efficient car

People who don’t car to spend too much on aesthetics and need good value for money

If for most of time it’s a single or two people use (or two small kids). In case if there are four adults than it surely might be a bit crampy.

It might be funny, but for people with low height (in case if you are 6` plus, this might not appeal you J)

And yeah, it can be compared with 800, but it scores mainly on its look and spacing. When you plan to go for a car, try and stretch your budget so as to include the power steering, coz from my personal experience I will say that the difference in drive is substantial.

Exterior When compared to old model, looks good. Body color bumpers and side beading. Rear looks awesome.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Internally adjustable OVRM is a nice feature. Steeting wheel is excellent & front power window is a good feature.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Performance has been improved when compared to previous model. Gear system is awesome. I think I'll get more fuel economy after first service maintenance (Now I am getting 16 Kmpl)

Ride Quality & Handling I am experiencing some shivering when rinding on 5th gear beyond 70 kmph speed. Perhaps this will reduce after the first service maintenance. Handling the vehicle is excellent.

Final Words K10 VXi is value for money I spent

Areas of improvement The front console looks ordinary, Maruti could have modified the AC vent and operating console. The rear power windows could have provisioned. The exterior view will improve if body color window has provided. Key less entry should have provided with the Vxi model, I am annoyed because the genuine keyless entry has not arrived the showroom yet.

Nice steering wheel and cable-operated gear system. Internally adjustable ORVMs. front power windowsRear view mirror is not body color. Maruti could have modified the front console. It looks ordinary.

      Hi All,

Myself Sachin Singh Owning ALto K10 VXi. here is my experience.

Exterior The Front headlamp and gril looks really nice. from front you will get the feel compact sedan. multireflecter headlamp is good. New ORVM gives muscular feeling(but its not body colored).Rear Look is not so good reminds you the old zen but its Okay in this segment.Remote boot is a good option. Rear Stoping lights are new in desing gives you better feeling.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Here I wil start with dashboard= not good same as priv alto I really hate altos dashboard.

Steering wheels with three spokes is really good, new instrumentation cluster with digital fuel indicater is really nice, as per front seat leg room its good for height below 6 feet because you have to adjust driver seat that will eat the read space.moving to the back seat leg room is average and you have to adjust yourself for 3rd person in back seat.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine :-) I would say wow feeling. gear box is juicy and I am getting 16km/L after 1st service. There is no lack of power while AC is ON. and I thing it is one of the best fuel efficent petrol car in B and B+ segment.

Ride Quality & Handling Handling is far better even you drive it over 100km/h.

Final Words Definetly Buy it. I am sure its worth paying ur money

Areas of improvement New Dashboard, rear power window, 14" tyres, body color OVRM.

Fuel Economy, Front Seat,New Gear Shift, Wider Tyre give good Handling,Good PowerOlder Dashboard, no rear power window

      To

General Manager – Customer Care & After Sales

      Dear Sir,

Please find the problems as summarized below:

      ·         I took delivery of the vehicle on 3rd September 2010 from  Popular Vehicles and Services Limited at Annanagar,  Chennai

      ·         At the time of delivery I noticed that the back left hand side door was not closing properly and promptly showed it to the dealer.  He assured me that the issue will be sorted out during first service.

      ·         After driving for  25 days and around 800 kms, I found following issues with the car:

      1.       First and Second gear shift is rough and car's movement jerky while driving

      2.       Car vibrates while it moves at around 15KmpH on second gear.  It becomes essential to down-shift to 1st gear before accelerating further.  I felt even the Maruti 800 which I have driven before performed better than this at low revs.

      3.       A knocking sound emanated from inside the bonnet

      4.       While decelerating, when I ease my leg from the throttle, sometimes the car suddenly slows down (as though someone has applied brakes).  And from low speed when I try to accelerate the vehicle, sometimes I find that the car picks up slowly and suddenly accelerates.

       ·         The service station diagnosed that the gear box and clutch problem and informed me that a sound was emanating from the gear box and they have to open the gear box and check.  They further said that, since they are not familiar with this model’s gearbox they will had to consult Maruti Suzuki and it will take minimum  3 working days to solve the problem.

       ·         When I did not hear from them on promised due date, I contacted them again and they said they have not yet heard from Maruti Suzuki and they tried replacing the clutch disc and clutch cover assembly.  According to them it appeared to have solved the problem.  I got delivery of the vehicle after 10 days.

       ·         Further, they said they also had to change the engine mounting because a sound was emanating from the bonnet.

       ·         Subsequently, the service station gave me the assurance that everything was fine and all the problems were taken care of

       ·         This was far from the truth, the same day while driving the vehicle, I noticed a sound every time I accelerated from low speed.  I promptly called and informed the service person.  After few more days, I noticed oil stain in my parking area and called the service station person immediately.  He asked me to bring the vehicle to service station, which I promptly did.  This was on 16th October 2010.  They detected problem with oil seal– again from the gearbox/clutch.  They further said that since this was a new model they have to get the spare seal from Maruti Suzuki and I will have to wait for further 2 working days to sort the problem out.  Till date I have not heard from them.

      ·         When I asked about jerkyness of 1st and 2nd gear, your dealer’s answer was that ‘since other car owners have also complained about the same thing, it is actually an inherent feature of the car and not a problem’!!  This logic does not make sense to me. My contention is that this might be a basic design problem with the vehicle itself and I see a major design problem brewing here.

       ·         Why does the engine mounting in a new vehicle require replacement? An engine mounting is a critical component and is supposed to last the lifetime of a vehicle. Again your dealer could not come up with a suitable answer my query.

The sad but unfortunate conclusion that I can arrive at is any one or all of the following:

      • ·         The Maruti Alto K10 has basic design flaws
      • ·         The vehicle has substantial manufacturing defects which is now slowly coming to the surface – and I have no way of knowing what is going to happen next when I drive my vehicle
      • ·         The vehicle was used extensively by the dealer – for test drives etc. before being sold to me

You can also see my updates on the car at http://www.mouthshut.com/kirantellis/reviews

I had shortlisted Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 and Chevrolet Spark.  Went of Alto K10 because Maruti cars command better resale value in the market.  Now I wonder why!  I would have been better off going for second hand Spark.  Over all quality of spark is far better than Maruti Suzuki Alto K10.  Every thing from quality of plastics to overall build quality is much better.

Exterior The car really looks good from the front but not very fond abt the back side.the paint quality is very good and the shine is uniform and smooth.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The interior is same as old alto and there is nothing new other than the instrument cluster.the space is a problem.but what i felt difficult was getting in and out of the car.once u ar in than it is good.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine performace is terrific and the car moves swiftly even with AC ON.there is no change in car performance with AC ON.The fuel economy I got in the new one is around 18kmpl with AC.The gear shift is OK and is positioned well in the driver reach.

Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality is very smooth and it gets better with more driving. My car was behaving a little rough initially but after some hundred kms it is very smooth.

Final Words Good Car with great Fuel efficiency and powerful AC.

Good fuel economy, good steering, low vibrationSame old dashboard as the old alto, leg space

I hv been using my Alto LX BSIII for the last 2 years. The car did not give me any major problems as such. In fact I hv not faced a break-down till now. Touchwood!!!. The car has done about 42,000 kilometres and has travelled in one of the worst road conditions in Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Andhra, including the potholed roads in Bangalore. I get about 13-14 kmpl in city and abt 20-21 on highways. The car is a bit cramped (I'm over 6 ft) but quite comfortable. What I appreciate the most, besides the mileage, is the ease of driving. I'm glad that I hv not made wrong choice as the Alto has proved to be a value for money.
Good fuel economy, compact design, low maintenanceLess spacious

I am having Alto Lxi since last one year. This is my first car and i learnt driving on it without going to driving school. I have only driven around 4000 kms since then and my first trip on this car was from Delhi to Himachal. car was driven by a driver and the mileage i got was 21 without A.C. I had my 2nd trip to Mussoorie, this time i drove myself and mileage i got was 18 with 50% A.C on. In city it delivers around 15kmpl with A.C and 17 without A.C. There are few few things which i want to mention are herebelow:-

      1. MILEAGE : It delivers great mileage for sure on highways & decent mileage in city witch i have already mentioned above.

      2. LOOKS : Looks are reasonably good, from the front it looks very nice and from back its not that good, its just ok but then you will not get i10 or santro in 2.72 lacs so its a good looking car in this price range.

      3. PERFORMANCE : It has got 800CC engine which delivers around 47bhp i suppose. top speed i got was 120 and in city its very easy to drive alto because power steering is very responsive. without A.C it doesnt take much efforts to move, it has got good pickup even with 5 people sitting in it but as soon as you switch on the A.C, power drops drastically, it becomes difficult to over take. for over taking you will have to change the gears frequently. but you cant ask for more from a 800CC engine. By the way, everybody complaints about its power with A.C like me but then you wouldnt get better powered car like santro, i10, or WagonR in this price range if you dont want to compromise on power than you will have to shell out 50-70k more and if your budget is less than this is the best car in this segment.

      4. AIR CONDITIONING : This is one of the best things in Alto, the A.C. its superb, it chills out the cabin within 5-7 minutes in the afternoon and takes 3-4 minutes in the evening.

      5. VERDICT : For me it is a best economical car for middle class family of husband, wife & 2 little children. it has got good looks, decent performance, great mileage, great A.C and low price range, what else one need to have in a four wheeler of Rs. 2.72 Lacs.

Great A.C, Good fuel economy, nice lookingLess Power with A.C

      Hi guys,

You are here means you are trying to find out a good car for yourself and you considering Alto as an option by instinct or by suggestion and review. Me also read a lot of review here and there after purchase Alto K 10 Vxi. . I write a bad review here about Rediff.com online shopping so I think as a good person I have to write the good review also for the products from which I am completely satisfied.  So here the one :-

I purchased it on 10 December 2012. So complete one year successfully with 11000 km. As per my pocket or job I can go easily up to 6 lacs rupees car but I restrict myself on 3.5 lacs Alto K 10 vxi. I read a review here in which a gentleman suggests that you have to go for the value for the money with your requirement. I think a person’s requirement can easily satisfied with this car's features. you check the feature and think about your requirement. Yes it is meeting completely someone’s requirement. Plus the cost is so good to not a burden on your pocket as EMI. Small EMI means you have a lot of money for fuel and partying. Of course I am 32 year old and like to drive, go out on drive and with family and friends. But i never ask about fuel. Please look the below incidents:-

      1. One my friend own 6 lacs car and not able to use it because of fuel price and burden of EMI. He likes to go out and but..... He drives his car in three years only 28000 km. He earns 75000 per month but look his condition. He said that his car is drinking his blood.

      2. one my friend own WagonR. Salary is lower than me but go for higher one car than me. He is also struggling for EMI and fuels. He run his car in 8 months only 4500 km. he always said about fuel. He said an occasion that we will there from your car Alto because it have good music system. We are paying same EMI but I paid 75000 as down payment and he paid 1.5 lacs.  So a lot of money gone and less saving.

      3. One of my friends suggests me the diesel car. I not consider it. REASONS:-

          A. I have to invest on and average 2 lacs rupees more (make average with BEAT, RITZ and FIGO).

Means I have to pay 4500 rupees more as an EMI. Please look my average running. I am running my car with petrol from that EMI cost 4500 rupees. And there is surplus money I have in my pocket for Diesel cost.

         B. There are a lot of debates about diesel cars maintenance. Some says it is low maintenance now and some talk about high maintenance and starting problem in morning and in winter. So look friends we are here to buy a new good car, not for proving that diesel cars are good.

      4. One my friend purchase Swift Diesel in 6.40 lacs of rupees. Good car. But look his driving. Run 7000 km in 6 months. He is also making excuses to not t o drive the car i.e. I am tired, car not require for one person. His run is around 2000 km per month. But he is driving only 1300 to 1400 km per month. His salary is same as mine. Still he have to recover 3 lacs rupees. His emi is Heavy on him and he is saving money from not to drive diesel car even.

If we are analyze all above example what will be the results. According to me.

      1. Car is means of transport. Please not use it as a show off thing. If you will go for show off, there may be regret for EMI and fuel in future. Because after some time the car will be car for you. You will look it as means of transport not the show off thing.

      2. If you run more than 2000 km per month than go for diesel. Consider it a vehicle than. Use it. Not like friend of mine who purchase diesel car and using bus for transport.

      3. A person spends on and average 40 minutes in his car in a day. So spend that less amount on the car. Please not spend too much so the peace of 23 hours and 20 minutes will be gone for thinking always about emi and fuel. Relax with your family and let the enjoy the car with your friends because your car have most important thing - **FUEL**.

Think about a SOME scene -

SCENE 1:- Your friend come to your home. He praise about your furniture, LCD, decoration, carpet and crockery. You feel very proud but there is no tea in your house so you were not able to  offer him the tea. He went without drinking a tea.  HOW HE WILL FEEL? IS THERE ANY USE OF YOUR HOME'S LUXURY?  WHAT HE WILL TALK ABOUT WITH FRIENDS YOUR LUXURY HOME OR NOT TO OFFER HIM TEA? CAR IS CAR. USE IT WITH FRIENDS AND FAMILY, NOT TO ONLY SHOW THEM AND LOCK THE KEY BECAUSE OF FUEL. FRIENDS AND FAMILY ARE IMPORTANT NOT THE SCRAP.

SCENE 2:-   You got everything in style to cook the food. Costly - costly utensils and crockery. BUT NOT THE FOOD. Any use of your 20000 rupees crockery. IF Car not have the fuel what use of features.

Scene 3 :-  You saw some people struggling in the middle of the road because there precious car got scratch from a poor bike or another car. They quarrel like animals. Guys we are gentlemen. Not the animal. We have to accept the incident as misfortune with grace. Purchase a car which maintenance you can bear. And forget about to fight on the road. WE ARE GENTLEMAN.

Conclusion - Guys go for any car which you can bear. Not the car for show off and get regret like my friends. Enjoy the car with friends and family. Save money for fuel. Fuel is the most luxury now a days. When everybody see the full tank your  car, they will really impress. And much more when you use your car with them.

P.S. - Please rate my review so I can motivate and write more review for good people.
