Hi all, i purchase my alto spin on May,2003. So for i drive 45,000 km and feel ... so comfort. For that money i invested (3.25 lakh) is worth and still its going on. Really i felt very good for its driving comfort, good milage and good looking too. Yes, we never expect such a extrodinary future in its class, as per they committed the comapny give the result. Milage : 17km avg (with AC always on) maintenance : very economic Tyres : Still i run with the original Design : most likely one Over all i am very satisfied with the performance, no comments on its discomfort. But one thing is make me little hurt, during city ride the gear box side (with AC is on) some noise raise, that is not at stop from the service part. They said, its common thing ... Other than that ... ALTO spin is ... taking me and my family more comfortableFor this value, it is worthOnly concern is gear box noise

I have a 2006 Alto Lxi which I drive every single day.I also own a Honda City 1.5 but for some reason I prefer to drive my Alto. Its cute, nimble and very very economical.I dont know why the others are saying it is not so good. Its smooth,no maintenance costs except the normal servicing every 5000 kms.Maybe one needs to think how you treat your car.My Alto has had only 1 puncture till date,so parts changed(touchwood) and I happily cruise at 110kmph on the highway ,surpringly the car is very steady and responsive. It has the coolest AC in its class ,however initially I did feel the dip in power with the AC on.But a servicing of the AC from a good mechanic bought amazing results. I am very satisfied with my Alto.Oh yes, after fitting a K&N Filter no complains abt power. Its as good as a Esteem now.Amazing Fuel Economy, good style,Manouveribility, value for moneySpace, initial pick up

Exterior Amazing stylish look from frontside. rear lookis also ok.

Interior No change, same as 800cc alto.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine is more powerful, of course with ac also. fuel economy is also good. gear box is awesome & gives the feeling of a luxurious car.

Ride Quality & Handling Movement is swift, smooth & balanced. handling is easy. power steering is marvellous.

Final Words Alto k10 vxi is a car for first time buyer, middle class person with maximum budget of 3.5 lakhs, person who want economical drive, family of 3 adults & 2 minors, people who dont want showoff but want only convenience in life. Alto is purely an car for urban life. please do not try to compare it with 8-10 lakh sedan.

Areas of improvement If a little leg room & height can be provided.(althogh i know its not possible coz providing this could affect the sale of wagon r).

new look, powerful engine, power window, excellent fuel economy.lesser space

The car is value for money for ones who want to be economical. I bought the car when fuel econ and low price was my criteria. A very good choice in this segment.

Although in 2004 we did not have the option of the Indica Xeta which is a more spacious vehicle and better to drive.

Styling and comfort scores zero but on maintenance and economy it scores the highest in the segment. Bet no other car can dare to beat the numbers.

Pick-up drops while the AC is on which I later got fitted from Maruti. Not a very stable car at speeds above 110 kmph although I dared till 134 kmph on the delhi chandigarh highway. Fuel econ is 20 with AC on highway if driven at 70-80 kmph and in Mumbai city drive it is 12 with AC.

Finally it is a great car to start off with and upgrade to a premium hatch or a sedan. Its been more than 2 years now and I have decided not to sell it off being my first love.

Good Fuel Econ, Small car easy city driveHorrible interiors totally cramped, no legroom in rear seat. Bad plastic interiors

      Hi,
I am the proud owner of a brand new Maruti ALTO Lxi BS III, brought recently (4 Months back). Drove it about 4000KMs till date and enjoyed. Highly spacious for 2-3 adults and 1-2 children on city road or long drive what ever. Reasonably good pickup (Ofcourse ith A/C on it drags a bit in climbing), good A/C, really nice Power steering and a great breaking mechanism (Even at 120KMPH one can be full confident to apply full break and bring the vehicle to halt in 20-30ft distance) not even a single sliding jerk or tilting of back. Wonderful aerodynamics. If one doesn't know to drive and do  mistakes, what can Maruti do?.
I would like to make it on record that this is the best car for the money I have spent on till date. Prior to this, I have driven M800, OMNI, Santro, for thousands of kilometers before making this statement. For an Ex-Showroom price of 2.8Lacs, you get Car with A/c, P/S, & which has best in class mileage.

Having said all that, how can anyone expect it to give more power, big space or better interior features. If those things needed go for better modles and pay more for like Estilo, WagonR, Swift, A Star, Santro Xing eRLX, i10, GETZ, etc. SO, all in all, its the value for money car, undoubtedly.
Good ful economy, Great style, Very good aerodynamics and a fantastic road grip even at high speeds. When u want 2 gain something, u have 2 loose something.

I had to buy a car for my Mom, so thought of giving a try to this option -Alto-Lets go!.. This car is just good for milege, and for single driver only.  In terms of power a brand new alto is even worse than a old-carborettor fitted (non-mpfi) engine Maruti-800.

Over the past years i have had 5 cars, from Fiat, Maruti 800, Wagon-R, Santro to Esteem. As said this is only an entry level car, People who have been driving powerful cars of 1.1 engines , will not find this car confortable, and truely speaking if u can buy Alto for 3.1Lakh , then stretchng for another 60k is a better option and getting on a 1.1L engine car.

      Pros -

      1. Maneuvering the car is easy, just like a toy.. Reversing the car is easy as compared to big segment cars like Santro, Swift, wagon_R
      2. AC is Good, Effective.
      3. City mileage has been arnd 15 -17 depending on speed, traffic, with AC, etc.
      4. Cheapest car so obviously a + point as u save money (but at the cost of satisfaction)!
      5. low maintenance, cheaper parts as compared to other cars obviously.
      6. Good for starters and Women drivers.
      7. Power steering quite good, needs little effort, but felt size of steering wheel is large for this car.
      8. Resale value & service of maruti a  point to be taken.

      Cons -

      1. Pick up is not good but okay for 1-2 ppl, but with 3-4 ppl pick up is v poor, & with AC pick up is horrible, u wld get frustated pressing the accelerator in AC !! can hardly pull 4/5 ppl with AC on !!
      2. All seats are cramped up
      3. Vey jerky pick up in 1st & 2nd gears ! the car can hardly move much in 1st gear & gives back a jerk if clutch not pressed slightly. Only from 3rd gear (above 30kmph) onwards jerks are not felt so much.
      4. Very less boot space (170L).
      5. Getting in & out of car is extremly uncomfortable (I'm 5"9').
      6. Avg plastic Quality
      7. Gear box not at all smooth, continous problems with reverse gear even after service ! Also the gear throw is longer than other cars. IN short its a bit Wierd!
      8. Day/night mirrors are not there, so at night time a lot of reflection occurs from front glass, side & rear view mirror. Night driving is really uncomfortable in alto.
      9. Long drives for more than 4 hrs (with small breaks) really uncomfortable & tiring ! Alto not meant for good long drives.
      10. Since the width of d car is not much, even if a healthy person sits in front passenger seat - the gear box tends to touch him significantly & comes in d way !

      Moral of the story-

      1. This is entry level car
      2. If you are buying car for the first time. Lets Go!
      3. If you are downgrading yourself from 1.1L car to 800cc. please think 10 times.
      4. Only good for Women, girls and starters.
      5. Ofcourse- Car with the best milege on petrol is here. If milege is your top priority. Lets Go!
      6. I feel Maruti 800 is still better than going for Alto.

All the Best! for your car selection.

good fuel economy, avg style, compact, v easy to drive, good visibilitypoor pickup, bumpy ride, v jerky drive in 1st & 2nd gear, night driving difficulty, v less boot space

Exterior Exterior is very good compare to alto and bonnet size is also long so its look good, back side break light is also attractive.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interior is not much good but its ok type.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Performance is very very good to highway as well as in city because its compact so we can take anywhere without any hesitation, gear box is also good and smooth, fuel economy is good compare to alto.

Ride Quality & Handling Very good quality broad wheels are in Alto k10 so we can Ride safely.

Final Words When i plan to purchase car before 3 months i just went to maruti and took a testdrive for alto k10 Vxi and when i drive i was feel good and my search ends there and immidiately I bought. Dont believe on anyone just u take test ride and judge the car really u will like it.

Areas of improvement Interior and seating space, meter and company must have to give back side power window.

      exterior and lookless spacious, meter

I purchase Alto Lxi model in 2008 and being this is my first car, my overall rating is 3/5. I know the engine is 800c this will obiviously will lead to poor pick up, but once your cross 40 speed the car really races very well. I drove this to nasik and thane quite often and had raced the car at 100 speed. Had loved this vechile since it suits my budget and full filled a dream of having a  car. I can take family of 4 for outing and that serves the purpose. AC is quite satisfactory, though it eat out the power, thus its recommended to be put to on once your cross speed of 40-50. This car gave me average of 16+ after 2nd servicing. However, I would recommend if you can spend more money go for WagnoR or Santor Xing to get a better deal.Good fuel economyLess spacious

Exterior This car is definitely a great improvement over the old Alto. The front side looks more like a sedan than a hatchback. The rear part is, however, a let down with unimaginative design. Maruti should have designed the rear with a lil more agggression.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Same old dashboard with new steering and seating for a change.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox I beleive that the K series engine is the biggest draw in this car. Driving this engine gives a sense of power unlike the old Alto which was used to dragging. As mine is a new car the average as per my estimates is in the range of 12-13 km/l. but it will hopefully improve with servicing and usage. The gearbox although much improved feels a lil vague. .it's a feeling only I got as my friends thought it to be fine. The steering lacks power at high speeds. could be due to the fact that many say it is 'under tyred'..but I am not  sure as I am not an expert.

Ride Quality & Handling Ride is smooth with this car handling decent undulations with ease. At this price range one couldnt expect any better. comparing it with swift or any other high range model would be unjustifiable. It is great city car. however, on the highways surrounded by speeding trucks, MUVs and SUVs, one could feel a lil bit unsafe.

However, keeping aside every sore point, it is undoubtedly one of the finest cars to have come out of the Maruti stable. For a first time buyer like me it is definitely a great buy!

I bought Alto LX in mid January 09, till now it has done 1500 kms including 1 long trip of around 600 kms.

This car is amazing in terms of fuel economy. The overall milage i am getting is 20+ till now. Ride and handling is Ok. The painful part is the AC system, cooling is faster and effective but it absorbs all the energy of 800 cc engine. Interiors and seat fabric is good.

I recommend this car to those who are single or newly married couple, height is a constraint, 5' 10" or more will face problem in getting in and out.

but over all its good car with best fuel efficiency & cheap spares available in the market as on date.

Good Fuel Economy, Easy Drive, Cute lookingSpace, Sluggish when AC is on
