The Xuv 500 is a very good looking suv with great features, amazing interior space, decent fuel efficiency for its size and power output, but after owning it for some time all those good and great things becomes worthless because of its really bad built quality, the worst ride quality where you can feel the smallest potholes and it makes u feel like the roads in india are even more worst then they actually are. I have complained about it to the service center a lot of times and they even changed the suspension once and the bushings have been changed more then 5 times and still there is no improvement. U actually feel like you are sitting in a 20 year old ST bus where every thing is rattling.

In the 18 months that i have owned the car, the whole transmission, suspension, middle row seat, the entire clutch and many more things have been replaced but still you cant feel that there is anything good about the car. Even the interior parts like the gear knob. handbrake lever, the hatch dikki door button, and many more parts started falling off and had to be replaced at my own cost.

Overall when i bought this suv i thought that it is a value for money product, but it proved to be a waste of money product. I strongly advice all those people planing to buy this suv, do not waste your money on this bad quality vehicle and instead go for something which may not have a vast feature list but will last long and spend more time with you rather then with the service centers.

Good style, fuel economy, interior space, long feature listEvery thing else

      Exterior: Good

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort): good

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox : good

Ride Quality & Handling : Very good

Final Words : No resale value,

I am planning to sell my xuv w8  resale value sep 2012 vehicle mahindra first choice nagpur hingan MIDC, quoted price is 10 lakhs,

It his kind practices normally first choice will do. Own brand buying rates are very less.  I won't feel genuine.

I have had a debate with first choice,  they can show the proof or invoice of sold vehicle, it can't sell more then the quoted price because it is made by Mahindra, ( what a branding here ). for a while felt so bad,  i made a biggest mistake of buying  xuv 500. It has no resale value.

as even today new vehicle w8 model is 16.80 lakhs.

I have w8 model dolphin gray color.  single owner driven 26000 Kim's. this is the cheapest vehicle for the resale value.

      Please think before you buy,

meanwhile I have spoke to their call center, they do not have my vehicles details after giving the chassis no. They could not find my vehicle details,

      Areas of improvement

No resale value, wastage of money.

Good exterior & interiorNo resale value, just 10 lakhs with in 6 to 8 months

      Exterior Good looking.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Good looking, very less spacious in third row, not bad.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Very smooth engine but not powerfull as the old scorpio 2.6L engine.

Ride Quality & Handling Not bad, but not comfortable as the scorpio.

      Final Words NA.

Areas of improvement Me 5.9 inches height as my head touches the top in the driver 's seat [very less height]. Driving is not comfortable. while driving u can't clearly see the reading or signals in the digital meter as it is not fitted perfectly as it comes straight through the middle of the stearing [very badly engineered]. Second row seats r very comfortable but the third row seats r very less spacious i think it is usually made for small childrens. why the company is just increasing the price of the vehicle month by month? And the system of booking the vehicle is not good. Firstly we should pay dd of Rs 80,000 after a days back they said they r going to put all the booked forms in a box & they pick some of the forms [lucky draw dip] what all this shit a new way of booking system not heard r seen in my life. Please change the way of booking.

exterior & interior designsvery less seating space in Third row

Exterior Good Looking. We have to appreciate desin team -Mahindra.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Believed to be good on looks. But the plastics quality and over glamour interior is not good. The leather seat quality is also very poor.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Mahindra's confusion on engine refinement is very clear. They have not settled their thought to make either a offroad or multi utility vehicle which suits city and highway roads of our country.

Ride Quality & Handling As a Mahindra product, we can feel happy, that xuv is not shaking its body like scorpio due to its monococ design and built. Engine is not so peppy to kick in the highway.

Final Words I had test driven the car fo more than 5 times. Most of the dealers are not willing to allow us to test drive for a reasonable distance. They are quite comfortable that the vehicle is going on long waiting period. We can experience their carelessness in customer reception clearly.

Though Mahindra has come out with a so called global SUV as claimed by itself, I had a little confusion in taking a decision to buy this product or not. I was oscillating myself for almost a week to take a call on booking either XUV or Innova. After all reviews from the users of XUV, finally I have decided to go for Innova. Thanks for the guidances. I pray god that all owners who suffers due to XUV has to get solution at the earliest.

Areas of improvement By this time Mahindra would have understood where to improve them. But immediately, they have to improve their customer service and solve the issue of current customers of XUV.

A highy hyped, make up artist designed carNo Safety, Not a value for money and all compromise car

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) I have been driving SUV's/MUV's/Jeeps like MM540, Sumo, Qualis, Innova and now lately the XYLO, since last 20 years. Though there are many minus points in XYLO, but I Luv its seats especially the middle row in E8-7 seater. I am surprised why Mahindra has forgotten to include this super feature in their this prestigeous XUV500 vehicle which could have made this another Balance Sheet turner for them. I only suggest that they should think of incorporating this feature IMMEDIATELY. As India is a country where majority of the people think more of their family and value for money, so every thing else comes after.

Final Words They should improve the seating style and comfort of the middle and rear seats.

Areas of improvement The improvement is needed in the quality of plastics to be used by Mahindras as the in XYLO also the plastics have become extremely bad in about 2 years of us and if these small changes are done many people like me shall immediately go and by this vehicle over the counter.

Good utilisation of power with smaller cc engine & good utilisation of space but.....The middle & last rows are not good. They MUST give the Captain Seats in middle row like XYLO

if anyone want to buy any mahindra car go to Gurgaon dealer.  I just bouthg AUX 500 and koncept dealers people cheated and treated me poorly.  I have complaint against them and waiting for their response.  The Manager Manish  there is very poor person to work with.  I was working with them to buy XUV, the representative working me went on off and then I was given Manish number to work him.. as the sale was already file in name of earlier representative, hence he never talked to me and also I called him multiple time he never picked the phone.  Hence I was never told the car will get expensive in another week and I was never informed.  when I want to book the car, Manish treated as if I am coming in charity... mentioned either you buy on increased rate or you can go.  further when car was delivered to me, it was not cleaned.. i took it again to them after couple of days.. they still never got it washed.  Car is awesome only because Mahindra manufactured it.. the koncept mahindra guys are spoiling the company name.  I have to beg (manish specificaly) them for discount and then asked to buy accessories and then they can give me some discount.  I am disappinted.. would recomment not anyone else to go there.  My friend bought it from Gurgaon and he is very happy and bought it with discounted price and not increased.  Thanks

Went for a Test Drive at Global Gallerie in Panvel (Navi Mumbai) on 8th Oct 2011. Had visited the showroom on 6th Oct however the showroom was flooded with enequisitive people. So decided to come on a relaxed day for the TD. Spent a good 20 mins (10 Mins Drive & 10 Mins Discussion inside the SUV)

Exterior Impressed with the design. Must say better than any Indian SUV. 1st Step towards creating designs that will be accpected globally. (Heard that many folks who have booked other SUV's have now booked this GIANT). Front Grill Looks very masculine though there seems to be some scope of improvement but a good attempt.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Plastic used should have been of a better quality. A music buff like me cannot place a WOOFER & AMP as there's no space for. Sacrifice the last row & you have space for everything. Liked the way the Body flows from start to end.  Rear View Camera can be fitted at an extra Cost. None of the models come with CHROME finish and they have to be purchased seperately.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Gear Shift was good (I drive a Honda so cant compare) & needs to improve. Fuel Economy should be between 8-10kmpl. Engine was peppy & responsive & did like the Roaring sound (they should have used the Lion instead of a Cheetah) when pushed for acceleartion.

Ride Quality & Handling No Complaints here.

Final Words Already booked it. M & M have also got a good range of accessories to complement this Mean Machine.

Areas of improvement Missing floor mats ( u have to buy them seperately) , Gear Box, Plastic Quality, Some space in boot to place hi end music accessories.

Finally drove the XUV500 after much waiting and chaos at the NBS Showroom in Mumbai. It was late on a weekday evening and was a bit nervous as the home going traffic had filled the streets.

Sat in a strong position, drivers seat offering right amout of lumbar support and enough knee room for my legs which were strained from driving our Ford Fiesta. A quick turn of the chunky key (which opens like a switch blade) and the engine comes to life. Sounded good, nice throaty grunt and quick slip into the gears and we were off. No Diesel lag and no clatter. Gear shifts were smooth though long and the clutch did not feel heavy like the Scorpio. My friend who owns a Scorpio has warned me of that and the seating ergonomics which has given him a slip disc.

The XUV drove well, enough feel and steering felt right. The technology was simple to use and I remember reading somewhere people wanting better quality of the plastics and the buttons/ switchers. After playing over 20 lacs for those cars, I would have that on my wish list too. But at about Rs. 14 lacs on road in Mumbai for the W8 version, I was not complaining at all...I don't want the sun roof or the reversing camera. I would have loved to have a electronic seat adjustment though, but at the price, I don't wanna complain.

As the waiting was heavy, the test drive was shared with a simple looking broker type of a gujrathi gentleman, but when he took the wheel, he was anything but that. Talk about Jykle & Hyde, he turned into a maniac and the company person in the car was very, very scared. So much scared that he offered to sit behind and push me upfront.

But the car never lost control and behaved itself nicely. It found its way between taxi's and buses and given its size, a lot of other small cars gave way nicely to it. Finally, we reached the showroom and got down with all our hairs standing up and the gujrathi gentleman was extremly impressed with the car. I think he booked the car 20 mins before we did and we now hear it has a 5 month waiting. I hope its not an artificially created one and generating more hype than necessary. At the end of the day, having paid the money, M&M should know that. "a bird in hand is worth two in the bush".

So, I bought this XUV 500, W8 FWD in July 2012. Now, the car has 1100 kms and already got problems with suspension, and there was noise inside the cabin. First, I tried to book an appointment and that took 2 days. I received several calls and SMSes telling me the name of my relationship manager. So, I tried to call him on Saturday, and he told me someone will call me back in few mins, this never happened, I called him few times and he always told me that. So, that day, I didn’t manage to get appointment. I called him again next Monday morning, and he passed me onto someone and I finally got the appointment next day. I brought the vehicle next morning, the supervisor told me I will get the car same day evening, I called in the evening, he told me, he will deliver the car next day. Next day, I called him in the afternoon, he said my vehicle is ready and I can pick it up, I went there, he asked for 5 mins. Of time which is always 15 mins. After that, he brought the paper to cashier, and cashier was not there, this again took 20 mins. The cashier spotted something was missing, the supervisor tried to close the case but he did some mistake. He was asking me for another 20 mins ( which would mean at least an hour) and I had enough of it. I left. No one called me that day. I sent an email to customer care and xuv sales department, next day, my relationship manager called and told me he will fix the vehicle and send across the same day and also, that while taking the vehicle out of car shower, they were putting a dent and he will also fix that. I called the manager in the evening, he told me my vehicle is ready and I can come and pick it up, I told him I will never visit workshop, he should send it over unless he wants to keep it, he said he will get back to me. He never picked up his phone after that. Today, I sent an email again to the customer care and xuv sales, the supervisor called me in the morning and told me he will deliver the vehicle before 5 pm, I asked him if I have to call him again or follow to which he said no, I don’t have to. And on top of it, he told the vehicle is still not fixed, he got the part and he will fix it today. Now, there is no sign and it’s 4th day, my car is laying in their workshop, taking car shower and resting, because I was driving it too much. Can you imagine? Would you still like to buy a car that has already problem with in the first month of purchasing and it takes more than 4 days to repair it and even no one is answerable or care about how many days it takes. People – go ahead and buy another company vehicle, my previous experiences with Tata, Ford, Hyundai and Chevrolet, no matter how big the problem was, the vehicle was delivered the same day and it was ready when they called me, I just needed to pay and drive. So, you pay more than 15 lacs to test this vehicle, and you spend your time bringing the car to workshop, and when they tell you it’s ready, and you go there to pick up and find out it’s not ready. So, in all, it’s a big loss to buy this car, first you spend so much money in buying, second you spend your time testing this car, third, you spend time in repairing it, fourth, most of the time, this car is going to be in garage. Imagine, within one month, it’s 4 days in workshop and I am still counting and that too, after two emails to customer care. My Advice, just don’t buy it, if you do buy, ask for money to test it, that your time is more precious than this car that Mahindra wants you to pay for testing.
