I am one who has graduated from a Bolero I owned for 4 years until this Scorpio LX BS IV that I bought in July 2010. I have stayed with Mahindra vehicles as it is my belief that one gets value for money. Here is my review which I hope will provide some constructive inputs for a better vehicle. The Scorpio that rolled out in 2006 came with 42 modifications over the previous models. The Mhawk version is the present upscale platform. With the suggested improvements the vehicle should maintain its brand image over other cars in the same category.

Exterior Very good styling. Distinctive road presence.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Finish could be improved - quality of plastic and colour could be better. Where is a clock on the dashboard? A good LED timepiece would definitely increase the show of the dashboard console (cheaper models of other manufacterers flaunt this). The flooring is the bugbear of Mahindra MUVs - the fibrous floor lining is very difficult to maintain - it can get easily stained and dirt/mud is difficult to remove. The floor mats provided are of very inferior quality - they are very light and so move around thus spreading the dirt on the floor rather than containing it. Rubber floor lining could be considered for standard issue.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine performance is the best feature of this vehicle as the pick-up is superb. The engine power available on all gears is very good. Fuel economy is not more than 10 kmpl in city traffic. The gearbox is a bit stiff but that is a feature of all Mahindra vehicles.

Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality is good due to the modified suspension but the roll factor is very evident when off-roading.

Final Words This variant (Mhawk) is much better than the predecessors but there is room for improvement to continue dominating this segment of vehicles.

Areas of improvement One feature that needs to be implemented is a gutter above the windshield to contain the rain water from the roof (the Bolero has this). This would prevent the cascade of rain water from the sloped roof onto the windshield when the vehicle brakes or slows down in traffic. This water from the roof is sudden and obliterates the road view ahead for a time period before the wipers can effectively cope.

Another matter which needs consideration is the housing around the rear tyres. There is no protection for the mud thrown at the front end of the rear tyres. This mud then coats the body area immediately ahead which includes the inner surfaces of the rear doors - a serious corrosion threat. A shielding arrangement for this should be standard issue.

Overhead A/C vents (as in the Toyota Innova and Tata Safari) would increase air circulation especially in the second and third row of seats.

Quiet engine, smooth running and great looksInteriors and accessories could be better

Exterior Good bold lookng tall suv with new mHawk engine, good head lamp design.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Front leg space is less, need good driving seating design, side doors should have bottle/magazine holder because no big glove size and other space, tooling kit should have toolbox area(for small tools),Rear A/c Vent should have seperate air flow control(to regulate air flows),Dash should be wider in design like Xylo has.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine is good less sound inside the cabin and having good pickup,High mounted intercooler is good in design concept, Fuel avg is around 10km/Ltr, Gear box is smooth provided correctly shifting made.

Ride Quality & Handling Awesome riding quality and comfort, Handing of this vehicle is good upto 100km/Hr.

Final Words Overall I personally have faith in this product being Mahindra quality system. SUV in this segment is having excellent performance and its value for money beside some designing lacks in Lx Model.

Areas of improvement As mentioned in concerned areas especially smart designing of space utilization with good fit and finish.

Bold Look,Engine(mHawk), Light Steering,Less leg space in front,Lacks with door side bottle, magazine pockets, poor finish of control switches

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Problem in shifting 1st Gear.

      Ride Quality & Handling FAIR.

Final Words GEAR, HORN and NOISE problem.

      Areas of improvement GAER BOX.

I own Mahindra Scorpio LX BS4 model Jan2012, and I took my Vehicle for 1st Service on 24-02-2012 at United Service station at Allahabad at 0930hrs. Following were the complaints to be Rectified (1)-Problem in shifting 1st Gear, (2)-Horns not working simultaneously,(3)-Noises from loose nut bolts & OTHERS. Then I took the delivery of vehicle after paying the bill and started to drive it and found that the Problem in Shifting 1st Gear is not cured.

Again I returned to Service Station and told them that the problem still persists and please repair it, Then only a person inspected my vehicle and found that there is a problem in GEAR BOX, and he had to take the whole gear box down and will take 2 days to repair. I was astonished to hear that as my SCORPIO IS NEW and was bought on 16 JAN 2012. I requested them to repair/replace my Vehicle to which they said that they will book the vehicle for repair and will take time to repair.

Ultimately with broken heart as my Scorpio is only 37days old and it"s GEAR BOX has to be replaced, what will happen in future, I booked my vehicle for Repair on 1st MAR 2012 that time only.

Therefore, I request you to kindly look in to my matter and ensure that in future Vehicles are inspected and problems are Rectified at United Service station at Allahabad, because neither of my 3 problems were cured.

There is still GEAR, HORN and NOISE problem in my vehicle.

LOOK(1)-Problem in shifting 1st Gear, (2)-Horns not working simultaneously,(3)-Noises from loose nut bol

      Exterior

Aksed For Rocky Beige, Got some Old Looking Military Green Colour, Doent look like its a new car at all.

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

Pathetic, Is an understatement, very Bad finishing, Absolutely nothing to cheer about it. I do not know what Mahindra charge for Good Engine and Terrible interior, Dash-board is like truck dashboard. LX is a cheapest version & has nothing in it which you can call a feature. Interirors is very dull, itsn, Speaker are Fitted in such a place when  you come out, U tend to kick it so that it can break

      Good Space,

I was using Logan GLX1.4, Which have better interrior than this.....

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

       Very Good

      Ride Quality & Handling

       Very Good

      Final Words

Very Sad Feeling, when get into car, Dont feel like telling any one that i bought such as Car with Lousy interior

      Exterior

Looks are at once discretion, & is a individuals perseption hence no comments on this front.

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

Features: Absolutely nothing. LX is a cheapest version & has nothing in it which you can call a feature. in thst sense @ same price Safari has lot more of features which come really handy.

Interirors is very dull, itsnot beige, from inside when i brought this my friends commented saying it looks like a taxi from inside, felt very bad :(

space, ya this is a only reason i brought this car, since i needed an SUV with 9 seater.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

Till now (RAN 4000kM ) has no issues , this is a only good part

      Ride Quality & Handling

Stearing is dead, no response at all. But works some how...

      Final Words

I felt I should have gone for the Safari LX, regretting for buying This metal box on 4 wheels, so called scoprio has bitten me badly :(

      Areas of improvement

Interiors & features at least need to match that of Safari. Which is a notch up.

      engine responsivenessNo features at all,

Exterior Exterior is rough and sturdy and have a macho look, this is where the scorpio takes away MAXIMUM marks, the chequered flag design on the bonnet and the body adds to its beauty, the bonnet scoop also makes scorpio mighty and muscular, but the beading and GUM used for the front windshield is of low quality and it often troubles you,the PAINT quality is pretty decent and the roof antenna is also of poor quality.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The Dash board is not very impressive, and the plastics used for them are of cheap quality, the GLOVE BOX only works for some months and all the other time it will be open, this is also because of cheap materials used, compared to TATA Safari the glove box is a waste, the power window switches in LX model comes between the driver and passanger for all 4 windows and thats too irritating, there is lots of space but you cant keep a bottle in a safe place, its like a playground,no organisation of space, the front seats are comfortable for a long drive otherwise the middle row you will be rolling your body all over, its good not to say about the back BABY seats. They are HORRIBLE. You cant sit for 50 Kms in the back seats.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Here the scorpio scores more, the engine performance is good, pretty good, gear box and gear shifting is decent but its not like a feeling of CAR..its OK for an SUV,sound and vibration of the engine is not there,Fuel economy is 10 to 11,but the bad thing is its got HIGH TORQUE which results in difficulty to drive in city, you must be pressing the clutch always otherwise it will be moving,The A.C is pretty good and has a good cooling efficiency in sharp summers, the only problem is of clutch which becomes hard after 40000 kms.

Ride Quality & Handling This is HORRIBLE,though the Scorpio runs like a beast you are not sure when the vehicle will ROLL,the performance of the Engine ROCKS but the Body ROLLS,it is uncontrollable in loose soil, must drive carefully or else there will be ROLL.

Final Words Good vehicle for a responsible driver. Not for others.

Areas of improvement ROLL ROLL ROLL.

Mahindra Scorpio has the best looks any other economic SUV in INDIA,it ROCKSPoor interior design, very cheap plastics used for dash and interiors,BODY ROLL...........
