It’s hard to forget the 10-minute screen time the Lykan Hypersport had in the Furious 7 movie. Tearing our eyes away from the swashbuckling duo of Vin Diesel and Paul Walker was a feat in itself. Buoyed by its high-flying feat, its UAE-based makers, W Motors have been inspired to debut an ‘entry-level’ Sportscar in this league. Presenting the Fenyr Supersport, a 900hp producing car which bowed onto the stage at the Dubai Motor Show 2015.
The Lykan Hypersport was the first supercar to be produced in the Middle East and as predicted its production was limited to seven units. The new car from the same stable is also meant for super exclusivity and also has a cap in production. Back in 2013 the company had teased images of the car and introduced the supersport.
The Fenyr Supersport is driven by a twin-turbo 4.0-litre flat six-cylinder engine which possesses 900hp power and is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The engine is courtesy Porsche specialist RUF. Here’s a little trivia for you: The Volkswagen GT TSI makes 104bhp, which makes the Fenyr nearly nine times as powerful.
There’s more showing off it can do. The Fenyr claims to do the 0-100kmph time in under 2.7 seconds, and a boasts of a top speed of 400kmph. This speed is no doubt aided by the carbon fibre body which is further complemented by a lightweight tubular aluminium chassis.
Production of the hypercar will be handled by partner Magna Steyr Italy, but now that W Motors has established its headquarters in Dubai, it hopes to shift production to the United Arab Emirates. Only 25 models will be made, according to the company, and each will sell for $1.85 million (R26 million).
