Maruti Suzuki has launched a limited edition of the Ritz in India. Called Ritz Elate, the car is equipped with new decals and extra kit and will be available only in mid-level VXI and VDI variants. The limited edition has been priced at Rs 19,990 over the standard car and being a limited edition, we expect that it will only be offered in some states.
Cosmetic enhancements like orange graphic decals in the rear of the car with ‘Elate’ logo, mud flaps and black door visors set Ritz Elate apart from the regular version. Extra equipment on the Ritz Elate includes a JVC two DIN music system, bluetooth kit, reverse parking sensors and an ambient lighting system. The interiors have been spruced up with orange upholstery, new steering wheel cover, floor mats and neck cushions.
Besides the visual updates, the Ritz Elate will be mechanically identical to the regular version. The VXI variant is powered by a 1.2-litre K-series engine which produces 85bhp and 113Nm of torque through a five-speed manual gearbox. The VDI gets a 1.3-litre DDiS engine which produces 73bhp and 190Nm of torque through a five-speed manual gearbox.
The Ritz has been selling in decent numbers, though they are nowhere near the numbers generated by other Maruti Suzuki hatchbacks. This special edition might be an attempt by the manufacturer to boost the demand of the B-Segment hatchback. The Ritz goes up against a host of other hatchbacks like the Tata Indica Vista Tech, Nissan Micra and the Renault Pulse.
