Honda launches 2013 CR-V for Rs 19.95 lakh

Honda Car India has launched the 2013 CR-V for Rs 19.95 (ex-showroom Delhi). The fourth generation crossover from the Japanese automaker has been launched as a CKD for the first time and will be assembled at Honda’s plant in in Uttar Pradesh. 

The 2013 CR-V will continue with the same engine line up and transmission options as its predecessor; a 2.0-litre petrol mill producing 155bhp and 190Nm of torque and the 2.4-litre petrol mill which produces 190bhp and 226Nm of torque. Transmission options include a six-speed manual (2.0-litre only) or a five-speed automatic. 

The Honda patented Real-Time Four-wheel drive will now be offered with the 2.4-litre mill. Honda has said that power will be directed at the front wheels for normal use and four-wheel would only kick in when required.  Other safety features include ABS, EBD and hill start assist. 

In terms of design, the front of the SUV has now got a revised grille and new design for the headlights. There is now a shark-fin antenna as well as new 10 spoke 17-inch alloy wheels.   The 2013 CR-V is 4545 mm long, 1820 mm wide, 1685 mm tall and with a wheelbase at 2620 mm, the new CR-V offers a highly efficient proportion of space which is in line with Honda’s Man Maximum, Machine Minimum concept.

 Boot-space has also gone up by a substantial 147 litres and the underbody has been re-designed to become more aerodynamic as well as reduce cabin noise. Other features for 2013 CR-V includes an electric sunroof, auto-retracting mirrors, cruise control, flappy paddle gearbox, reversing camera, eight-way adjustable driver seat, dual zone climate control and steering mounted audio controls.

Honda is also offering two accessory packages; the Inspire and the Elegance package. The former includes chrome treatment for the doors, tail gate rear spoiler, running boards and a chrome exhaust pipe. In the elegance package includes a honeycomb front grille and garish for the lower part of the doors, side-step and the tail gate.
