Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT breaks cover at the 2016 Auto Expo

The Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT has made its Indian debut at the ongoing 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi. This flagship model is a decked up performance-focussed version of the regular Grand Cherokee, and will be the most expensive offering in Jeep's line-up, once it is launched here. The Grand Cherokee SRT gets a sinister look thanks to the wide body kit, flared wheel arches, rear spoiler, distinctive headlamps and the blacked-out front grille. While it is wider and longer than the standard car, the lowered suspension makes it shorter, giving it a stanced look. Inside, the interior has been revised to offer a sporty and luxurious undertones in tune with the Grand Cherokee SRT's exterior. The dashboard and the steering wheel gets aluminium inserts, while the seats can specified in luxurious Laguna leather upholstery. It also gets a high-end 19-speaker Harmon Kardon music system. 

Under the hood is a monstrous 6.4-litre V8 Hemi petrol engine, which is also used in the Dodge Charger SRT and the Chrysler 300C. Churning out 470bhp and 630Nm of torque, this engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Even the suspension setup has been upgraded with stiffer springs and Bilstein adaptive damping system to offer a sporty driving dynamics. It comes with Selec-Track system to allow you to dial in your preferred settings for the suspension, torque distribution, engine maps and the stability control. The Quadra-Trac Active four-wheel-drive system should offer decent off-road capabilities, though the massive 20-inch wheels hint that the Grand Cherokee is meant to stay on the tarmac instead of stray off of it.
