The new Ford Mustang GT500 has been spotted undergoing testing in the US. The sparsely camouflaged test mule previews its mildly revised tail section and the new wheel design.
While previous spy shots showed heavily disguised test mules, Ford has dropped some of the camouflage this time around. It is based on the same S550 platform, which underpins the sixth-generation Mustang. While the GT500´s shape and design are similar to its meeker siblings, the aero kit and revised bumpers give it an imposing look. The GT500 rides on new 20-inch wheels with beefy 305 profile Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres.
Housed inside the Mustang GT500 would be a 5.2-litre supercharged engine mated to a DCT transmission. Back in 2013, the GT500 had the most powerful production V8 in existence, delivering 662bhp. So we can easily expect the 2019 model to churn out more than 700bhp. The Mustang GT500 is expected to debut next year as a 2019 model.
