The S-Cross may have just arrived here in the Indian market; however, its European equivalent has been in existence long enough for Suzuki to develop a facelifted model. Our sources have managed to photograph a prototype of the new SX4 S-Cross on test and it seems like there are quite a few changes.
In terms of design changes, the European-spec S-Cross facelift gets a different grille with vertical instead of horizontal slats. Additionally, the bumper is also different and houses a new set of fog lights. Meanwhile, the rear-end features revised taillights.
The SX4 S-Cross facelift is also expected to feature a new engine option in the form of the 1.4-litre turbocharged engine. The vehicle is currently equipped with a 1.6-litre naturally aspirated engine with around 120bhp of power.
The SX4 S-Cross, along with the new Vitara, has spearheaded Suzuki’s line-up of next generation models for the European markets. Both these cars have done fairly well to improve Suzuki’s image as a serious mass market manufacturer. As for the Indian market, the S-Cross is Maruti Suzuki’s ticket to the premium end of the market and although the brand hasn’t fared very well in the past with premium products like the Grand Vitara and the Kizashi, the S-Cross is looking a lot more promising to turn things around for Maruti in the premium end of the market.
