Honda Jazz spotted testing in India

The Honda Jazz will soon be launched in India and the new variant of the premium hatchback was spotted testing in our country. These sightings indicate that the Jazz might be officially launched in a couple of months for the Indian market.

The test mule that was spotted was slightly camouflaged and was running around on makeshift alloy wheels. The manufacturer might equip the top-of-the-line variant with 16-inch alloy wheels. This iteration of the Jazz is the third generation of the popular hatchback whose overall length is 3,955mm, 36mm less in comparison to the previous car. The carmaker has increased the width by 8mm to 1,702mm. The height remains unchanged at 1,524 mm, but the wheelbase has been increased to 2,530 mm compared to the 2,500 mm in the previous generation hatchback. The vehicle has always been big in proportions and now with an increased 30mm wheelbase, the cabin space has also increased.

The Jazz for the Indian market is expected to be powered by the 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol unit and the 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine. The transmission options will include a five-speed manual and the company might bring in a CVT gearbox at a later date.

This car was launched first in the Japanese market in September 2013 and named as Fit. For the Indian market, it has been christened as the 'Jazz' and hopefully will find a good demand unlike its last generation. The new hatchback will compete with the Volkswagen Polo and the Hyundai i20, and if priced competitively, will gain popularity in a short time here like it did in the Japanese market.
