Live: Tata Bolt India launch

Tata is launching the Bolt hatchback in India today and we at CarWale are bringing you all the live updates from the launch venue. The premium hatchback from Tata Motors will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Swift and the Hyundai Grand i10 with the new turbocharged Revotron petrol engine. The diesel variants will continue to derive power from Fiat’s 1.3-litre Multijet engine.

11:30am : Minari Shah on stage on behalf of Tata Motors to welcome the media.

11:32am : Mayank Pareek is briefing the media on growth prospects for the India economy.

11:33am : Tata expects a strong growth in 2015 - after a relatively dull couple of years.

11:34am : More 10,000 have requested for test drives and more than 50,000 have made inquiries.

11:40 am: Talking about the popularity of the Bolt, Mr Pareek said that the Bolt was displayed in over 100 cities across India. 50,000 registered inquires for the Bolt, 10,000 prospective customers have requested for test drive

11:42 am: Girish Wagh - VP small cars project Tata Motors, on stage to give details of the car.

11:46am : He begins talking about the design, which he says is a manifestation of the youthful and sporty DNA desired by the customer. On the front of the car, he has described it having an aggressive, planted stance. and gets first in the segment projector headlamps that merge into the signature Tata grille,

11:47 am: Lot of aggressive features at the front to differentiate it from rest of the Tata cars.

11:48am: The car also gets blacked-out C-pillar to create a floating roof effect.

11:58am: The interiors gets sporty Java Black finish.

11:59am: Tata motors has high hopes from the turbocharged Revotron engine.

12:01pm: Safety features: The Bolt gets dual airbags and passenger side airbags and with the ninth generation ABS system from Bosch, it meets the current safety regulations in the country.

12:02pm: The 1.2-litre petrol engine gets more attention in the presentation that the 1.3-litre diesel engine.

12:04pm: Tata says the Bolt has best in class cabin space

12:06pm: New features: Tied up with MapmyIndia for navigation purposes;

12:09pm: SD card driven video playback and comes with smart voice recognition which has been appreciated in the Zest and the Bolt has an 8-speaker audio experience.

12:10pm: The Bolt will be available in four trim levels: XE, XM, XMS and XT

12:11pm: XMS will be more affordable than the XT variant but will offer all the safety features.
