Tata Nano, the world’s cheapest car costing about Rs 1 lakh is expected to be rolled out on the 3rd of March this year. The bookings for the Nano begin in the last week of February.
The 3rd of March is the birthday of Jamshedji Tata, the founder of the Tata Group. The final date of the launch is yet to be confirmed. In case of advance booking, a person needs to pay 70% of the total cost of the car. The Nano will be manufactured from Tata’s Pantnagar plant.Â
With Rs 70,000 being the initial cost for advance booking and  as the company expects a booking of at least one lakh orders from across the country, which implies that the Pimpri-based company could be loaded with Rs 700 crore within a few weeks time, in a slowing world economy. The Nano was supposed to be launched in October last year, but due to the Singur plant controversy the company had to delay the launch of the world’s cheapest car.
