2014 Auto Expo: Hyundai launches all-new Santa Fe for Rs 26.3 lakh

Hyundai has launched the all-new Santa Fe at the ongoing Auto Expo. The eagerly awaited luxury SUV has been priced from Rs 26.3 lakh to Rs 29.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) depending on the variant. Interestingly, the Santa Fe will be locally assembled at Hyundai’s Chennai plant, helping the Korean brand in achieving a competitive price tag.  

The Santa Fe will be made available only as a five-seater as the Grand Santa Fe, which is a three-row seven-seater, is only produced in left-hand-drive configuration. The revised car is more imposing than its earlier version. The cabin has been designed keeping in mind space and modern features for the car. The quality of material has definitely improved as Hyundai believes in futuristic and quality features for their products.

The new Santa Fe is packed with features like a 12-way adjustable seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, six airbags, chilled glovebox, daytime running lights, 18-inch diamond cut alloy wheels and HID (High Intensity Discharge) headlights in the top-end variants.

The new Santa Fe is powered by the four-cylinder 2.2-litre CRDi diesel engine churning out 197bhp. It comes mated to either a six-speed automatic or a six-speed manual transmission. Hyundai is claiming fuel economy figures of 14.74 kmpl and 13.01 kmpl for manual and automatic models respectively. 

Although priced slightly higher than the competition, the new Santa Fe seems to have overcome the shortcomings of the previous variant and thus should make a better place for itself in the Indian car market.
