Bentley’s annual sales for 2013 show a year-on-year growth of 19 per cent. The company sold 10,120 cars in 2013 in contrast to the 8,510 vehicles sold in 2012.
The improvement of sales for the carmaker is owed to the exports extensively. About 86 per cent of the vehicles that were produced at the manufacturing plant at Crewe in England were shipped out to other countries. America being the largest market for the company, China, Middle East, Asia Pacific and Europe turned out to be good markets for the automaker.
The British luxury car maker sold 3,140 cars last year in America thus showing a 28 per cent hike as only 2,457 cars were sold in 2012.The Chinese purchased 2,191 vehicles which is lesser than the sales figure of 2,253 units in 2012. There is an 11 per cent boost in sales in Europe with 1,480 units being sold. The sales figures in the United Kingdom also went up by 25 per cent as the company made a sale of 1,381 products in 2013. The 2012 sales figures of Bentley in their home market, UK, stood at 1,104 units. The climb in sales in the Middle East by 45 per cent is majorly attributed to the Mulsanne being sold there.
Bentley launched the new Flying Spur in 2013. This 2014 version of the car helped further strengthen the business as 2,005 units were sold in just the last four months of 2013. The automaker sold the vehicle’s predecessor, the Continental Flying Spur, on an average of 2,700 units per year which shows that the new car has been doing considerably well to broaden their profits.
Bentley’s Chairman and Chief Executive, Dr. Wolfgang Schreiber, overwhelmed by the good sales figures, said that 2013 marked the company’s fourth consecutive year of double-digit growth. The year also saw the company’s distribution channel grow to 139 showrooms worldwide and he hoped 2014 would be another successful year.
