Jaguar Land Rover achieves 1 million car sales from Halewood Factory

Jaguar Land Rover celebrated selling one million units of their cars, all manufactured at the Halewood factory in England. The carmaker achieved this landmark 12 years after they first manufactured a car in the factory back in 2001. Cars from both the brands are manufactured in the plant now.

The one millionth car that rolled out of the factory was the Range Rover Evoque. It has been specially designed for the Cancer Research UK foundation and its auction will help in raising money for the organization.

Richard Else, Operations Director of the Halewood factory, said, “We are delighted to be celebrating this huge milestone for Halewood. This unique Evoque looks stunning and is a one-off vehicle that will raise money for Cancer Research UK projects here in the North West. Over the past few years many of the families of my growing team have been impacted by various forms of cancer. This milestone vehicle, built with pride at Halewood, will help raise much needed funds to help eradicate this dreadful disease.”

Initially Jaguar cars were manufactured at the Halewood factory. Around 3,63,603 units of the Jaguar X-Type and X-Type Estates were produced between 2001 to 2009. Later, the manufacturing plant started making the Land Rover cars initiating production of the Freelander 2. About 3,81,211 units of the Free lander 2 have been made till date with more rolling off the production line every day. Production of the Range Rover Evoque started in 2011 and over 2,20,000 units of the car have produced in the last two years.
