Honda has unveiled the European spec 2013 Honda CR-V diesel. The crossover will be powered by the 1.6-litre i-DTEC Earth Dreams engine that made its debut in the European spec Civic sedan last year.
The engine produces 118bhp and an impressive 300Nm of torque and is the first of the new generation engines that will be introduced across the Honda line-up in the coming three years. Honda has claimed that it is the lightest diesel engine ever made and has a fuel efficiency of 27.8kmpl. For now, the diesel powered CR-V will only be front wheel drive and be mated to a manual transmission. The rest of the CR-V is exactly the same as its petrol sibling that was unveiled for the Indian market last month.
Honda has said that it will not bring the CR-V diesel to the Indian market due to the high cost of importing it from the UK (sole manufacturing facility for the diesel CR-V) and the equally high cost of launching a new product.
