I have purchased VXI version on Aug 19th & so far have driven 1028 kms. First service is done & its performance is really good. I love to drive this car in City. In Bangalore I spent 4.56 lacs on road (incl. Fog lights & MGA kit). I have driven Estilo (old version) & A Star is far better Choice than Estilo.

I have purchased this car just one week back and i went to chandigarh from Gurgaon via this car . I got 21 km/ lit fuel economy and apart from that suspension , steering, road grip and engine performance are really very good.I drive it for around 850 kms and find it comforatable.

         But the stereo system fitted by the company is not with pen drive port which is required in these days.

 

It is really a good car interm of fuel economy. 21.5Km/li on highway without Ac and 19km/li in cityBoot space is litle bit less

I have bought the A star Vxi in August 2009. This is a very compact premium hatchback.

What is special in A star ?

The car is more to be felt than seen. In this range compared to competetion you will best love this car in driving. Its got great handling, pickup, high speed stability (its wide and short in height) , great grip and brakes (tubeless tyres). The steering feedback is correct, its well weighted, you can twist and turn the car in traffic as you like, its fun driving it. Its made in brand new platform and chassis, body roll is less, suspension is really good.

I bought the car because i loved driving it . In four lakhs on road i got a/c, speed sensitive electric power steering, four power windows, central locking , factory music system with two speakers and definetly a brand new engine. So the basic list of features is over that makes the car basically complete .

Now the big question average ??? In 99% a/c i get 15 kms appx in city heavy traffic. In other way 500km appx form tank full to tank full. .This is good .

Let me address the evergreen question "space" talked always about A star. This car can ferry 5 adults in comfort. Space as a problem is more with our eyes than actually it is with the rear bench. Because the car is not tall .

If you compare it dimemsion wise with competetion you will understand for your self.Neither your hands fowl with other person while on driver seat. Boot is adequate for two big travel bags and you can top it up with two - three more smaller ones but there should not be the rear parcel tray. Twice i fetched my in laws and parents from station . Its nothing great nor so less too;you can manage.

One example - On dhanteras day we went out me and my wife with child in front. My parents, my in law parents and my younger brother all packed in rear seat. The car neither had any probs either on handling, suspension, brakes . It went off the underground mall parking full load. Great engine and no hicks at all.

Buy the vxi . For city use for small outings for me, my wife and child of a year its more than sufficient.

Final impression - This car not a hollow tall frame with flimsy build developed decade before . Its modern, its technically now in every aspect. Its value for money and every drive is likable and lovable.

My extras- I have just put a pair of JBL  speakers in rear doors. CD player is outstanding and my cool cabin with great music is fantastic while is car is agile and smart on roads.

What to say about a gr8 car like this, Never experienced such perfection. A small car but highly responsive engine, Good pick up, millage, very good A/C, super power steering with gr8 Handling. i tried this one for a long drive 800 km in 2 days, I didn't get tiered of it the riding pleasure was gr8.Believe me   for overtaking its a specialist. the only 3 problems i felt is less boot, engine is noisy @ High speeds like 80 above, and reverse gear some times makes a sound that is there with Ritz also. All together iam proud to be a Smart owner of Astar

Exterior A star is a excellent looking car, I own this from last 2 years and people still compliment ing mee for its looks. There is a issue with its boot space but for 4 people it is ok. Drive is so smooth that u will forget all cars u drove before, excellent control, u can turn it in a small space as well. Inside it feels like u r sitting in a 10 lakh car.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interiors are excellent, much more than a luxry car. Comfort is excellent.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine perform well in all condition.

Ride Quality & Handling After two years it still look young and beautiful, people compliment about its keeping quality . Handling is excellent. 

Final Words Good value for money and maruti banner is always there for you , 

Areas of improvement Boot space can be improved , A piller can be reduced as it hide right view while turning on hilly tracks.

Riding experience: Good engine but compact space interior not that much

First time in the History of INDIAN AUTO industry that Maruti has introduced one new model (which is definetely not going to be hot-cake) with new generation engine, and without any refinement or knowledge about the current expectations of Indian buyers.

This model is going to the second major slip(next to the tin-body Zen estilo) for Maruti.

Maruti losing its hold in the industry by closure of Esteem & Old Zen AND the introduction of not-so-user-friendly and costly vehicles to its worth (like zen estilo, A Star)

Nowadays, Maruti products are more supply-driven and not user-driven concepts (except the grand successful SWIFT).

Maruti needs to rethink of all its future models before release and should think of re-introducing the best selling sedan(Esteem) or Best compact car(Zen) in-line with current scenerio of Industry.

It is best car fpr fuel efficiency also powerful performance compare to its samgment. Engine is of k series. It is very comfortable. Boot space is less in this car also the storage capacity is also.less.

i test drove the A - star on sunday.
Pros - looks great. stylish. i presume the mileage will be good.

Cons - i was dissappointed that drivers seat is low, with not great visibility of the road. Guess i'm comparing to Santro and  Wagon R in which you sit right up high. and actually i shd be comparing the car to the Alto.
Dicky space is not an issue for me. Rear windows are small, dont know abt how pleasant it will be (for back passengers) to drive without AC which i do quite often.

therefore i am confused. Maruti sales people are pushing the  Wagon R (? their bonuses will be better). and i have to admit the driving experience of Wagon R is good........................but look of the car is so dated and after driving an M - 800 for 7 yrs, i want something jazzy!!
