I have purchased xylo E-4 in October-2009. So far my vehicle has run 2000 Km. since i have other car for city driving  that is easier to manuvour in conjested road coditions. But my conception was wrong so far as manuvourability is concerned. M xylo is very easy to manuvour in narrow road and conjested road also. I have travel around 250 km at least at a stretch. vehicle has returned good fuel efficiency around 11 km per litre. The vehicle is very good comfort and stable in 70 to 80 km speed. I am very satisfied with the xylo. Initially, Scorpio was also not accepted / liked by many people. But due course of time people started to like this vehicle and that time in that category competetors were in the market.

Good Style, excellant comfort for long journy and good fuel economy.Less luggage space and cheep plastic at interiors

i am happy to be a xylo owner since 4 days. the vehicle has already done 700kms quite efficiently i must say. the performance and handling have been extremely satisfying. the realiability of the various systems in the vehicle have been good. on the whole the owner ship experience has been very satisfactory. however there are numerous issues that would put you off.

      1.   the music system is garbage.

      2.   the claim for adjustable seat with lumbar support is junk since the adjustment is only token and does not provide any tangiable benefits. however the seat is more comfortable from any other without these so called adjustments.

      3.   the quality of plastics is terrible. the finish is unworthy of even a goods carrier. it is so disappointing that a fledging nation like ours and its leading manufacturer cannot ensure quality of something as rudimentary as plastic.

      4.   therefore the only add on of any consequence in the E8 version is the alloy wheels. all the rest can be avoided. that should reduce the ownership costs further.

      5.   the mileage is excellent with an average of 14kmpl on highway in these 4 days.

      6.   i suspect that i would be having problems with the dealer in terms of serviceing and warranty since they dont come accross as being particularly honest in their dealings. time will tell.

      7.   one of the most disappointing aspects of the vehicle is the very poor AC system. it is effective only in recirculation mode. therefore for some comfort from the heat, you would be breathing stale air.

      8.   to conclude, as was said in some other review, it is a good buy for some one who cannot afford any other higher end. however in comparison to a innova, this vehicle holds its own in terms of overall ownership experience

      happy hunting

      Friends,

I am from ahmedabad. I bought my xylo some two years back. Its been used single handedly by myself and has run almost 32000 kms. During this I have faced many technical problems. (A) the hand brake wire gets dislodged from its hooks and makes noises now and then. (B) the parts squeaks when we drive even at 30-40 KM/HR and the worst was (C) the transmission bearing lost its functionality and was required to be replaced. (D) oil pipe became brittle and anytime now, due to be replaced.

Very poor spares and pathetic quality is what Mahindra (once known for its sturdy military vehicles), is second name for.

I think only Maruti, from indian manufacturers, provides good quality and relatively good service.

For anybody who is expecting value for money, don't get fooled by low priced mahindra vehicles.

At least the dealer in Ahmedabad, "M/s. Sheetal Motors" are always ready to screw you through your car with exhorbitantly priced spares and service.

looks big. I didnt like the outside look initially. I liked it when I sat in the car and start driving.

Lots of space for all passengers. I drove to Kochi from Bangalore with just 20 min lunch break(600kms). No fatigue at all. very confortable. Great comfy seats, powerful engine, smooth gears and soft clutch. Drive non-stop. There is a bit of body roll. But once you are familair with the vehicle you learn to handle it just like any other SUV.Suspension is soft and we can glide over average roads.

Excellent value for money. 3500 miles so far on my speedo in 2 weeks. No issues. Great mile cruncher.

      Areas of improvement

plastic quality, esp the inside door knob looks cheap. music system, better sleek looks. Mahindra dealers-they are far better now but still short of Maruti and Hyundai.Need to install a rear view camera for reversing and parking. YOu wont see if a child or a bike stand behind you close.

Overall I an very happy with Xylo

I am seeing a lot of Xylo's on the road off late. It has to be good to be able to sell that much. Do agree that it is a full Value for Money Vehicle.

The car is very tall compared to others in its sectors like Innova and Tavera. So when it comes to space, there not only ample leg-space but also ample head-space.

Looks are also not that bad. Now that I have seen it so closely and seen it so often, I do like the looks. Xylo is the "Tall Boy" among the lot.

One thing common that I observed in the Xylo's that I spotted is that they were all cruising at 80-100 kmph. It can definitely do more but I guess the drivers don't mind stepping on the gas with the power and stability of the engine and the drive quality of Xylo.

One thing I really liked about Xylo is the shades that it comes in. It comes in some really cool shades and the best one I liked is the so called Java Brown.

An average of 12 kmpl is very good for a people mover like Xylo.

Exterior Good frontal shape  and  excellent road view from  drivers seat.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Seating comfortable and Air conditioning  takes the load .

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Perfect. used this vehicle for 72,000 kms and no problem. I have driven to Gujarat, all over karnataka and maharashtra and no problem. I had a peculiar problem in as much as engine cutting off upon clutch release at 1st and 2nd gears shifting. This was traced to a minor rubber stopper in the cabin  just near the clutch pedal. This needs to be rectified for future models.

Ride Quality & Handling Drove in the coastal karnataka and western ghats like Hornadu, shringeri, kollur, kateel, Dhrmasthala, Kukke mangalore udipi etc and had no problems.

Final Words So far so good, But then let me  tell you, my mahindra car service agent in Bhandup mumbai renders excellent service and never had a break down any where.

Areas of improvement Wheel alignment requires to be done on a regular basis possibly due inherent design. The wind sheild washer system is a bit weak and requires constant check up.

Seats, interiors and Air conditioningDash board plastic gets scratched easily

      Exterior

i own a silver mist xylo bought in jun'14 after trading in my Ford Classic '12 model. stance is excellent. dual hella water spray proof horns are standard, abs is standard but no alloy on this trim. running board is standard. auto door lock on movement is an excellent feature. car is not to long turn radius is shortest in its category. big windows give great driving confidence in the hills. chrome trim in grill inset is a good feature

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

seating position is better than the innova ,driving experince is the same in both with equitable body roll owing to their sheer physical size and the muv category.the gadget list is low H4 gets no deck no chrome trims.... it looks like a water spray washable interior. im not a big fan of interiors hasnt bothered me....air con slots in each row is stabdard. two charging points are standard. last row has an openable window which i feel is functional but would be used rarely. seats arrangement is flexible and easy to mount and unmount

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

the mhawk replaces the E series in the new H series. pick up on low rpm is great condiering the legendary simens turbocharger that i was used to in the ford. the clever airintake in the engine bay designed in the xylo impresses me. gear throw is long since the stick shift sits at a great distance from the driver.

      Ride Quality & Handling

ride quality is typical muv, firm on flat runs and heavy on sharp curves. but thats essential to a MUV i would say. handling of the xylo is far better than even a sedan thanks to the short turning radius. the sheer size intimidates unruly motorists. parking, start and stop, reverse parking without electronic assistance is a skill no doubt but thanks to the large orvms things are easy.

      Final Words

its not a porche not an audi not an overprices honda.... its a simple cost effective indian brand muv, with a good technologically designed engine so i look at it as such and wouldnt crib and cry about this and that missing.... its meant for a practical minded customer looking for people movement with the least electonical interference and nuisance..... in case glass glamour and haute cultur is your thing..... then stick to a japanese or europran sedan

      Areas of improvement

mahindra should provide basic things such as floor mats mud flaps and sest covers and standard options. improve the ground staff knowledge on their cars. else its all worth what money can buy at the price point

Exterior Exterior is quite Good. Though certain improvements would beef up the appearance.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) About the interior there is nothing to raise serious complaint.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engine Performance is Good until now but appears to be on the borderline. All would depend on how the car would behave after 3 years. The fuel economy is Average. The makers are aware of it and therefore an effort to appearent improvement is made by adding AC milage in the actual milafe is made. Gearbox appears to be very Poor. I have already complained about the hard gear shit for first 10 minutes on starting a car at rest for more that four hours. No response is received.

Ride Quality & Handling Ride Quality & Handling is Good until now but have to see the same until first three years.

Final Words I find the guarantee excludes almost everything, under the pretext of normal wear and tear. While I was in the W/s for service one customer was there with a complaint of clutch. His car was 3 months old and must have run over the first monsoon in Mumbai. In fact the ditches are there on the raod in every rain, in this rainy season though, it got a wider adverse publicity. To my surprise the customer was charged for Rs 22k for the repair, which in my opinion was certainly a guarantee repair to be available for free. If this be the approach, I think I must flogg off my car before my clutch gives way.

I bought my Xylo in 2009 December. I loved the car in the begining. The advantage at 2009 was, 1) specious vehicle 2) Cost

After 3 years of using the car i realized that spaces really does not matter if you use the car for personal use. Today the cost is also not very friendly. For the first 2.5 years it seamed to be fine. Off lately,in the last six months, i have been to the garrage for many issues. 1) Gear box problem 2) Engine top sealing leak 3) Air con failure 4) Rust on the bonnet and doors. there is load of tiny parts exterior and interior that falls off.

To top this off, the service capacity in chennai is a total waste. They changed my stearing wheel with an old wheel. I had to fight back to get my own stearing wheel.

I have already started looking for buyers to sell the car and have booked maruti ertiga. I think with powerful network of service and proven track record of maruti, i will be more satisfied.

      Regards,

      Harry.

Very SpeciousIt is worth only for 3 years.

One of the best budget cars in india... Powerful engine.... With reasonable mileage and very spacious.... But only disappointment is interior quality..... Anyhow best safety car in the sense of 80km/hr drive means It will be withus lifetime.... With good mileage and where though maintenance is low not too much high
