I bought the i10 sportz about 10 days back. since I migrated from an alto, I literally felt I was in an aircraft cockpit. The quality of the plastics and material look so much better than maruti cars. I looked at the ritz too, but though the Zxi is well equipped, the basic quality of materials was like in an alto. Also there needs to be a variant between Vxi which is equipped with basics and Zxi which is loaded with all features. the i10 sportz is just that level with a music system, rear wipers and defoggers etc.

Back to my sweet little i10 it handles really well. The steering gives you adequate feedback and the car is smooth in city drive as it has a soft suspension. However when on the multiple continuous speed breakers on the road the car jumps too much and feels unstable (even compared to the ALTO). Also fast cornering with a full load of passengers makes the car feel unstable. I think one of the not so good features is that the thick A pillars really obstruct your view when you are trying a 90 degrees turn on the right side. Everything else in the car is beautiful. I have fallen in love with it as has my 2 year old daughter who now always wants to go out in the i10. It has a fantastic music system that can keep my daughter pacified and a quick chill AC which gave me a flu in 4 days!!!

The beautiful beige interiors are likely to get dirty sooner. So I usually drive with the windows closed.( I am still to get over with the infatuation) With the AC usually on 70% of the time , and keeping the speed to within 80 kms/hr my new i10 returned an amazing 14.55 kms in city driving in kolkata (390 kms at 26.8 lit full tank to full tank measurement). I must admit that I do not live and drive in the most congested parts of the city but I think this figure is excellent as my Alto gives about 16.5-18 kms in the city with 30% AC use.

My overall experience with the dealers was very satisfactory but I was really pissed of with AXIS BANK for taking too long.

easy to drive. fantastic interiors, adequate powerview obstructing A pillars

I bought the sportz model and have driven it for approx 5000 km in city highway and mountains. Its got a lot of power for a small compact car. excellent interiors with the beigh finish give it a charm of its own. The engine is very peppy for a great pickup  for a stop go traffic and the transmission is very smooth. The only thing it lacks for city traffic is mileage. Its at present giving a mileage of 12 ( Ac ) in delhi city traffic. On highways this is an astounding 18Km ( Ac) with a constant speed of 100 kmph. On mountains its very agile and great for overtaking and has given an excellent mileage of 16 Km. There is very little body roll on turns for a high roof design. Excellent vehicle but a little costly on the pockets for the same range of vehicles. excellent interiors, great performance, stylish designpoor fuel economy in city driving but excellent on highways

I bought the car for 5 reasons.

      1. I was told that it has got good Mileage. Eventhough i havent verified exactly, I think I am getting around 14 with A/c. i will confirm after 1st service

      2. Superb interiors.

      3. Enough leg space and room(Compared to  M800 which i possessed)

      4. good cooling

      5. Good power steering

I was dissappointed for the following

      1. Poor power with A/c on. There is a dragging feeling at the accelerator pedal with the A/c on.

2.There was no rpm meter for this model eventhough there was one for magna model for which I took test drive.( you dont notice it easily )

      3. the wiper does not have an intermittent speed in ERA model ,eventhough it comes as a standard even in a M800

      4. The height lights are said to have adjustable 3 positions. But I cant sense any diffrence between the three positions

      5. The floor mats provided as std accessory was so thin that it started tearing within the first month itself.

      6. I bought the car from popular hundai, TVM and they didnt provide me boot mats as a std accessory.

      7. The gear sometimes get stuck when we try to shift. We have to depress the clutch once more to get it released. It sometimes becomes very difficult.

      8. the manual for the car is common for all models and explains all features.i am not quite sure what all features are equipped in this model It just says "if equipped", and explains the function like   adjustment of driver saeat cushion height , intermittent wiper speed, window defrosting, etc

      Mathew, Trivandrum

Good interiors, good power steering, enough leg spaceNo intermittent wiping speed for wiper, Poor pulling &Vibration at the accelerator pedal with A/ c

I bought i10 my first new CAR from Hyndai Motar Plaza this year in Month of Feb. The syle of the car is quite impressive , interior is good specially the dashboard.

The basic req which i had from the Car like i10 was milage, but this car did not meet my expactation. The milage of the CAR is between 9-11 KM depending the road conditions and traffic.

The basic req which i had from the Car like i10 was mileage, but this car did not meet my expectation. The mileage of the CAR is between 9-11 KM depending the road conditions and traffic. My expectation of this car was 12+ which I had not experienced so far. Second problem I had with this car is poor pick-up. Its take quite an effort & time to bring speed to this car.

Good StyleBad fuel efficiency , Pickup is very slow

I'm writing this review after a long use of my car. I've bought my car in March, 2009. So far the car has traveled 2970 k.m. Here's how I feel the car is,

      For:
      1. Good overall look
      2. Good interior and useful design
      3. Driver comfort
      4. Space management
      5. Fuel economy
      Against:
      1. Dumb looking rear
      2. Little low powered
      3. Poor music system
      4. Lack of car security
      5. Little overpriced for total package
It's no doubt that at a glance the outlook of the car is impressive (generally). It performance is also good enough in compare to other petrol car from same segment. Riding comfort is much better than many hatch, including swift. Interior is very refreshing and good styled and designed, though few more cup holder and pocket would be very useful. There should be option for gray interior as beige interior is very hard to maintain (I like beige more than gray).

Driving comfort is good enough. You'll feel comfortable sitting in driver seat, gear shifting is moving a knife in butter, power steering is very good and road feedback is excellent. Though many time you may face difficulties with the reflection of dash on windscreen. If you are a tall person, you may feel uncomfortable in front seat (I have one friend, who has problem sitting in front seat due to lack of head space, he's 6 feet tall). You can't seat comfortable with all tall persons, you have to shorten leg space either in front or back to accommodate a tall person comfortably. Though the car is 5 seater, but that figure definitely not for long drive unless back seat passengers are all slim. If you plan properly you shouldn't have space problem (considering you do not want more space than the cars area).

In many review I've read 'bout the bad fuel economy of i10. But either they got faulty car or I'm lucky to have really good fuel economy. Initially it was like 11 kmpl in city and 13 kmpl in highway. But now it's giving me around 14 kmpl in city and 18 kmpl in highway. Latest reading is, I drove 500 k.m. with 26 lt. petrol which goes beyond 19 kmpl. That was full tank to full tank reading so there could be 1 lt. plus/minus at max. That reading mix with A.C on-off (30:70).

Engine is quite silent and smooth. On speed of 140 km/h I found the car stable enough. Though with A.C on I found significant drop in power, which is very unpleasant for me.

I think car's rear look could be way better, it definitely should have more power (may be a 1.4lt. engine?) and at this price it should have equipped with fog lamp and immobilizer. i10 is definitely little over priced. And if you are music lover, I may suggest you to buy 1.2 magna instead sportz and install a good music system and speakers. Music system of sportz is really very poor, actually you can't expect any worse car music system (except those chinese one).

Last thing to suggest you, if you're thinking to buy a car, don't take decision reading reviews. Use Carwale forum (the great resource to get help) and most importantly TD you sort listed cars with your family and then decide.

DISCLAIMER: I'm no car specialist, what I've written is based on my personal experience, so the information may not be applicable generally for all i10.Good style, Good interior, descent FE, SmoothnessBad rear look, Overpriced, Low power

Exterior : Looks are always subjective, I feel the i10 is quite cute and the spoiler adds a dash of sportiness. Oyster grey, blushing red and white are the colours to go for in my opinion. The thin smiley grille and chunky ORVM also look great on the car. Alloy wheels on at least the higher trims would be a welcome addition.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) : The interiors were the winning factor in my decision to purchase this beautiful car. The beige touch gives a feel of roominess (though its reflection on the windshield on sunny days is a headache as I  later found out!!!), and gives a classy appearance. The white-theme instrument cluster is cool, and along with the integrated music system makes the dashboard beautiful to look at, especially at night all-illuminated.

Space-wise,  four medium-sized adults (including driver) are easily accomodated, while five may be a bit of a squeeze (depends on whether the passengers are heavily or slightly built). Bootspace is not that impressive, but I think thats a problem common to all hatchbacks.

Talking about features, when compared to the peer group (Beat / Figo / Polo / Swift / Ritz), the i10 may seem to be lacking in things such as Bluetooth connectivity, electrical ORVM's, split rear seats, digital fuel readouts, distance to empty etc, but we should not forget that the car was launched almost two years back. All four power windows (driver side auto) and tilt steering are common from Magna to Asta. The Sportz and Asta versions come with rear defogger and wiper, while ABS, airbags and sunroof are optional.  The stock audio system (on the Sportz and Asta trims) is quite decent for the average listener. Hyundai should be looking at including more features / creature comforts if it hopes to keep the i10 moving at this price point though.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox : The 1.2 Kappa engine is a hoot to drive, though lower end torque has room for improvement.  That said, it still is comfortable to be driven around town, and on highways, especially when overtaking, the car shows its real self. The 3rd gear has a huge range, and keeps you trigger happy, to use an analogy!!! The engine is real silent too, and you have to really listen extra-hard to hear any sound when its idling.

Fuel economy depends on style of driving, and mine is giving me 17.30kpl. This has been calculated by tank-full to tank-full method (over eleven cycles now), and my driving is 70% highway and 30% city with AC on 50% of the time.

The gearbox is slick, and positioning of gear lever is funky. Gears slot smoothly into place, the only problem being with the reverse gear, which sometimes just refuses to fall in place. Dont know if this is a common problem though.

(PS: Should add that I havent still faced the steering rattling issue)

Ride Quality & Handling : If the i10 has any cons, it would be the ride quality. The ride is often too bumpy, even on small humps the rear seat occupants would be jarred. The stock tyres (155/80 R13) also need to be upgraded for better cornering and handling. On straight, smooth roads I have no problems at all, but the car doesnt give me the confidence to corner at above 60kph. Hyundai needs to seriously address these issues to improve the overall feeling about what is an otherwise great car.

Final Words: All-in-all a great allrounder, the i10 (1.2 Kappa) manages to do extremely well in areas such as fuel economy, engine performance & driveability and has best in class interiors. The most practical choice for the small urban family, who loves getting their feet wet on weekends!!!

Areas of improvement : (1) More features and creature comforts to compete with the peer group (2) Ride quality and handling needs significant improvement (3) The headlights offer poor visibility (4) The beige dashboard looks great, but Hyundai need to do something about its reflection on the windshield. One tends to get used to it though.

Classy interiors, great fuel economy, fun-to-driveBumpy ride, beige dashboard reflection on windshield, poor visibility headlights

First of all, I would like to thank carwale.com team for providing such a nice platform and to all the reviewers for their valuable reviews. It really helps me a lot to finalize a car from a massive variety of products in a small hatchback segment.

I was looking for a small 1200 cc petrol car with good fuel economy, decent looks, comfortable seating for 5 persons, good city as well as highway driving and with the price tag of around 4.5 Lakhes. After considering the options like swift LXI, Ritz VXI, Indica Vista, Chevrolet Beat, and after the research of around 3 months, I have purchased 1.2 i10 Magna (C. White) on 27th August,2010.

I was really confused between Hyundai i10 Megna and Maruti Suzuki Ritz LXI. I have very nice experience from Hyundai as an owner of Hyundai Santro since last 7 years. It’s also having better features than Ritz LXI at almost a same prize. So, finally i have decided to go for i10.

Exterior and Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Really a great exterior looks like a small car from outside but at the same time very spacious and comfortable from inside. It has nice seating comfort, sufficient leg room on front and rear seats, cool dashboard design, and sufficient head room for a taller and healthy family like us (6 feet and few higher in KGs). So, ultimately a nicely design interiors.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox It has easy gear shifting, responsive steering on highway as well as in city with tilt adjustable feature with silent and good engine performance. I have already traveled 800 KMs in a week, and I got the mileage of around 15 KM/Liters, it might be more after first or second services in future.

Initially we have planned to purchase the sports version having rear headrest, back wiper, defogger and company fitted Audio Systems and some other additional features. But the sound quality of audio system was really poor in the demo car and it also didn’t have a USB Support for pen drive. So, after sacrificing rear headrest, we finalized the Magna version.

If you are planning to purchase the i10 Magna, don’t purchase any accessories from company workshops. Its 2 times higher in prize and also sufficient alternatives are available with wide range in the market. You may go for company fitted central locking system, as its company workshop prize is quite affordable and also we are always more concern about the security. If you are planning to go for all the good quality accessories including good audio systems, it cost minimum and around additional Rs. 25,000.

Areas of improvement A dashboard reflection on front glass in sunlight is little bit disturbing. So, you might have to purchase the dashboard cover available in the market. It’s better if it have some more boot space.

      take Care,

      Enjoy.

      Nirav.

Exterior The best in its class, but the length is worst in its class. It is one of the compact car, but still looks great. I wud like to discuss that y the figo sale is booming despite of low mileage, power 70 bhp as compared to i10 that is 80 bhp, its bcoz of its length its dam good lengthy, rest everything is very comfortable. One thig I wud like to add it should have 14'' tyres instead of 13'' so it wud look like just a sports hatchback, meant to leave behind all... come n race with me... yaa i m i10 sab ka daady...

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) The one thing i say zabardast... When we sit inside its dam good, feels like we are sitting in just a top class luxurious car, its great, one cant imagine in which car he is sitting once he sit inside. The position of the gear lever is very comfortable which feels like just a sports car... Tilt and power steering is a great combination which i10 possess, and when the driver seat comes to nearby 75 degree angle its feels like I m driving a cruise...

Inside space is very comfortable, good head & leg room, even the boot space is of 225 l its very good to have.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Mast hai koi comparison nahi...

Ride Quality & Handling Mast hai koi comparison nahi...

Final Words A car fulfills all desirous need.

Areas of improvement Tyre size & little bit length.

When I had planned to go for a new hatchback, I  had shortlisted 3 cars i.e. i10, figo and punto. However i choose i10 for the latest technology , the compact size as compare to others and the service centres.

Hyundai engines are always known to be smoother, and I experienced it when i drove one of my friends new Wagon R(after driving my i10). To be frank i felt I was driving a Deisel car and the gear shifting took some serious effort (i10 needs only a finger to change).

I have read some comments about people criticizing the mileage of the car, I really feel pity for them. I feel the fuel economy depends on the drivers knowledge and experience and not on the car engine. I got a mileage of 17 with AC on highway which I feel is good enough.

The only drawback in this car is the tyre size which is 155 which can somtimes really make you the absence of a 165 or 175.

But anyways the i10 scores well in rest of the scenarios and Ultimately I am a very happy and proud owner of Hyundai i10 :)

      Cheers,
      Saju...

Great handling, interiors and good fuel economyTyre size could not have been 165 or 175.

      Exterior Excellent.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Excellent.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Good.

      Ride Quality & Handling Good.

Final Words I booked my next gen i10 Sportz, 1.2 Kappa2 (Carbon Grey) in a weeks time on 9thpr 2011 at Advaith Hyundai, under the Sales executive Mr. Sunil Annaiah. I got the delivery on 6th May 2011.  I have done about 1300 kms so far. I am using for about 15 kms a day in Bangalore Roads.  I had experienced a mileage of about 12.5 – 14 kms (With AC) in highly congested Roads between Peenya & M G road.  Once I decided to take for a long drives for my car registration in Hubli. I filled the tank (full tank – 35.02litres, Trip – 180kms) at HPCL, Nelamangala. I travelled for about 380 kms out on highways (without AC) towards Hubli. In Hubli, I filled the tank again at M.G.Indi IOCL Pump (full tank – 13 litres, Trip – 543kms) and got a fabulous mileage of 27.5 KMPL. Last week I took another longer drive of about 400 - 450 kms covering Hubli - Tumkur - bangalore and got a mileage of 25.86 kms (without AC). I could experience the highest mileage when I was driving between 65kmph to 80kmph (not exceeding 2000 RPM) constantly. Still I need to get my first servicing done. Now I need to test for the longer drives with AC which I shall put forward in the near future. Hope fully I feel comfort and getting used to my all new i10.
