Exterior Exterior is good and having different look which attracts to peoplw

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Interior is also good and comfortable. Space is ok as compare to others in the same varient.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Engin performance is good but having higher maintenance. After all periodic services it requires replacement of parts which is high cost. As per company it is low maintenance, but in actual it is high maintenance. In initial up to three years maintenance is owned by company therefore it is not realised, but after warrenty it is realized. In short we can say the maintenance of the wehicle is average 25000 per year after warrenty.

Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality is good no issue in handling.

Final Words In my view we should not by such car (schervolet spark). There is always risk in long drive which we are suffering.

Areas of improvement Enginering of gear box and engin need to compair with other and improve accordingly.

Good interior and looking.Service after sale is not good.

What to say about Chevrolet Spark. It's a great Car with everything you want in your car-luxury, style, looks, Fuel economy. It has some features which are new to be in indian car like it's centre mounted instrument panel. It is now coming even in indica vista because this feature is great and everyone sitting in car can see the panel easily. This is a feature that used to come only in high priced cars like Audi but spark changed it. I purchase Spark LS 1.0 in december 2008 from gwalior. The only problem I faced was there were no service centre available easily, there are very few around 80 all over india.

but still the car is having so many good features that this Discomfort is not considerable. It has-

      • Tubeless tyres
      • Power Steering
      • Centre Mounted Instrument panel
      • Huge Leg room
      • Best In Class Mileage (17-18 Kmpl With Full A/C)
      • Fuel Injection System
      • Cigarette Lighter,Detachable Ashtray
      • Door Ajar Warning Display
      • Perfectly Silent Cabin
      • Effective Air-Conditioning
      • Spacious For Five Adults
      • Completely Foldable Rear Seats
      • Stylish Dashboard
      • Tinted Glasses

At the price i bought the car,no other car was this much competent. At the time I Bought  Spark Maruti Suzuki A-Star Was launched and i went to its showroon to have a look and the car was not looking good at all. It does not look beautiful and cute like spark it has a bold look and looks like Bolero From it's front. After looking at it's shape i decided not to look at it's features and i went to chevrolet's showroom and purchased Spark

Therefore I recommend everyone who wishes to buy a car between 2.8-4 Lacs(On Road Price), Should opt for Chevrolet Spark

Any version Of this Car is better than Maruti's 800,Alto,Estillo; Tata's Indica,Indica Vista,V2. Hyundai Santro Xing can compete the car because of similar features but GM Motors is a better Company than  Hyundai. So Buy Chevrolet Spark.

      Hope The review Helps You.

       Goodluck!!!

Great Fuel Economy, style, looks, interiors, dashboardNo Beige Interior Available In This Car.

      Hi Guys -

I'm using spark LT for last two years and below are my words. Hope this will help to evaluate your options.

This is my first car. I bought Spark LT in 2007 at little higher cost 4.35 L (Top end with Audio) and it is 2 years now and I'm satisfied with car performance however I felt I'm over priced but with current prices I feel Spark is completely value for money.

      Exterior

      Exterior look is okay.

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

Not much space but I felt seating comfort is better than other cars in this segment. A/C is bad but may be due to the engine CC. I LIKE wagon R in space and interiors than this.

Wipers are bad. I replaced them twice and still not working correctly.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

I would say engine is the best in this segment. IT IS SO SMOOTH. It makes no sound at all when using A/C it makes a lot of sound though.

Initially the fuel economy was bad (12/10-city) but in year two I got @14 in highway and @13 in city with A/C.

Gears I see are hard. Clutch is hard too.

Pickup is good but little low in 4th Gear; 1,2, and 3 are very good.

Ground clearance is lees and in case 4 adults sitting it will touch bumps on road; you have to <10KM/H to pass bumps.

      Ride Quality & Handling

Ride quality is good. On highway I touched 140 KM/H and at this speed I felt vehicle is not balanced below that speed it is stable and I don't see any shake in car.

On other side the car is not much balanced in turning at speed higher than 60.

One major issue I have is with braking. I experienced brakes skid some times the most worse thing is it not all times but once in a while. I took the issue to service station but they couldn't replicate and failed to fix this.

      Final Words

The car is well suited for a small family (not for heavy personalities) who drive at speeds around 50-80 carefully. You can see better mileage and no maintenance costs.

Crazy drivers (like me) can also prefer this car. I can be sure that it will be excellent for 2 years and then on you might see troubles (engine sound is different and few other sounds in car).

      Areas of improvement

Gears and clutch handling can be smooth. Braking can better.

Good engine & performance and low MaintenanceComparatively Gears are hard, not very good braking

Exterior BEST LOOK,best shape designed to move fast with good road grip n balance,no car matches it's look, the colours of the car good but yellow colour is not available, height very very good ,length good width too good, body too better than other small cars, bumpers too wide n cant be damaged or cracked even it dashes against a solid thing due to it's softness. Even bumper damaged it  costs less as its size is smaller than alto, astar i10.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Seats good, leg space sufficient, features r sufficient, dash board look marvellous like a big car, seating comfort is there back space bigger than others.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox FUEL MILEAGE BETTER THAN OTHERS BEING A 995 CC CAR,

      Ride Quality & Handling Good!

Final Words Ahh! it can cater the need of second car owners, average income groups.

Areas of improvement front glass quality to be looked into cylinder of rear wheels.

GOOD IN EVERY RESPECTFRONT GLASS & DOOR INTERIOR HANDLE POOR.

      Exterior

       The car exterior is good.

      Interior (Features, Space & Comfort)

Good features, Adequate Space for four, Normal comfort.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox

Old engine, Performance of it is beyond par. I have hit the 140 km/hr on the highway but could not sustain it. with three people on board the car driven consistently in the speed range of (90-110 KM/Hr) it returned 19+ KMPL, which is not bad. The car in the city gives 15+ KMPL with AC. Gearbox, Clutch is good, so is the build quality. Many times the car was hit by two wheelers and four wheelers from the back. The bumper took the hit, the shape never changed (no dents).

      Ride Quality & Handling

Suspension is very good. It lasted for a very long time. Changed the front shocks at 72000 kms. Perfect handling. Even in turnings the car is steady while turning with no body roll even at 50 Km/hr speed.

      Final Words

This is a workhorse. It gets the job done. Impressed by the car. The car was bought in 2008 and it is BSIII model not BSIV.

      Areas of improvement

In the next facelift, I expect the car to have a new smoother less noisy engine (1.2 Ltr and not 1.0 Ltr), slick gearbox, perfect clutch, Electronic power steering and not Hydraulic power steering. 14" wheels, perfect build quality, Higher ground clearance (>170mm). Spare parts to be more cheaper, Engine oil to be fully synthetic and not semi synthetic (15W-40). Plastic quality to be of premium quality.

All this at the best price for the average Indian family. That is when this car will become a hit and give Alto and Eon a run for their money.

My suggestion, buy this car you will not regret it. A very good car for a nuclear family.

This car never ceased to amaze meHydraulic Power steer, Old engine.

I got my new Spark (black) on Nov-11, and on the first day itself I felt in love with its smooth driving.

There was lot of apprehensions in my mind before going for this car as the people around, argued against this wonderful car. I was looking for other options too like i10, Indica vista, Zen astilo, before settling for Spark (after I test-drove it). Also, the recent price slash by GM for Spark was also factored-in for freezing the purchase. I tell you, its a real value for Money with all the comforts you can have in a small car. I got its cute car for just 3.45 Lac with central locking, PUR Seat covers, Mud flapps and foot mats in Hyderabad.

There are 2 distinct things I noticed in the car, firstly, you can drive at 30KMPH at 5th gear without any engine knocking. Secondly, the design of the car ensures safety for its passengers/driver.

So, far I have driven 600 KMs without any problems, the mileage though is just 13 KM/L (in city), I was expecting 15KM/L considering the engine size.

I shall give further feedback after the 1st check-up is done at 1000KMs.

Overall, Its a nice and safe car for a family of 4 (parents and kids).

Value for Money, pleasurable driving, Build quality is goodRear seats leg-room is cramped (for person with height>5.9 ft),The interiors are dark

I bought my spark brand new in Mrch 2008 and so far i have done 25000km on it. most of the travelling has been long distance.

CONS: I have not been getting the fuel economy that one would expect from such a tiny engine and light car. its a town car, not a long distance car. i try to avoid driving the car in heavy rain because its so light, it tends to lose control in any small puddle. i even fill up with petrol just to make the car heavier. going past big trucks is a problem too as they produce lots of wind. as i drive the car, i notice where GM has cut corners to make the car cheaper. the painwork is so thin that any little stone chips it down to the metal work. the tyres the car comes with are cheap kumhos. i wanted michelins or something like that!

PROS: I fit into absolutly every parking space!!! it can ramp pavements but not recommended. the car is still going after 25000km with only the alternator giving me trouble so far. the GM customer support is amazing, even on sundays! the car is comfortable, i love the electric windows! i would recommend this as a great student car aoe for a person on a budget.

the car is not a sports car and shouldnt be treated as such. treat it like a little, not too powerful car and you will get a great run in return

comfortable car, very nippy in tight situations, fits into tiny parking spacesfuel economy, thin paintwork, unstable in hard winds and heavy rain

Stable Car - more than expected.

Space in the Car - much better then expectation when looked from outside. [ Loof Swift from outside - it seems very big unless you step in. However for Spark, see the small outside size and go inside to realise that the space for passengers is very will managed]

Price - very reasonable - infact the price is very much discounted.

Build Quality - seems for life (very sturdy)

      Driving Pleasure - Excellent

What more do you expect -

1 more thing - only a newer engine with 4 valves per cylinder for better performance / effeciency. If  that happens - all the cars (Santro / WagonR / Zen and to certain extent i10) will get screwed up.

I was a maruti loyalist for the last 15 years and at last we found that our little maruti 800 is making problems at her old age. So we planned to purchase a new car.

Ishort listed i10, spark, Zen and wagon R and found spark is superior to other three

Purchased a dazzling red color Spark LS from DD motors kollam, kerala. includes a Kenwood MP3 and a remote locking system and 3 year warranty

      Interior

Spark’s interior is spacious compared to its exterior dimensions,. I am 6” tall and can easily sit in driver’s seat.  Rear seat is also better than wagon R and estilloo

      Exterior

This car really looks cute in the front .rear tail lamps can be little bit more stylish. Overall looks very small and not designed for India ha-ha as lot of well-wishers say that it is too small for the price. I feel the paint quality is not good as Hyundai vehicles

      Engine and Ride

The car sores in this part as it is the most stable and  fun to drive vehicle  plz compare only < 4Lcs category.

Engine is super silent and efficient .A lot of people says that its having 8 valves and it is old technology ..but if you really go through the technology sites .spark is the most advanced  SEFI system  from siemens and it is far ahead of MPFI .Don’t gent confused  about valves per cylinder and all marketing gimmicks

After First service it gives 14 Kmpl on city and 17 Kmpl on highway with 100 A/C, mileage purely depends on driving skill

5 speed manual gear box is good but makes a little uneasiness from 4th to 5th and reverse. I am expecting it to improve after 5000Kms

Suspension system is also smooth and absorbs lot of bumps .Tires make a little bit of noise on rough roads may be becs of tubeless

      Dealer

Till yet no complaints to write against them. They are prompt and I feels that they have shortage of manpower as it takes a day for the first service. to complete

That’s it..if you need a comfortable small cute car for  a small family go for it. If you need more “Size”, showoff  for the money you paid  then buy wagon r /i10   and  be happy

New Delhi - In the presence of General Motors Corp. Chairman and CEO Rick Wagoner, General Motors India today launched its much-anticipated Chevrolet Spark mini-car.

"GM has made growth in India a priority," said Wagoner.  "Last year we began construction of a new manufacturing facility and introduced three new Chevrolet products.  We are keeping up the momentum this year with the introduction of the Spark, which gives GM an entry in India's predominant market segment."

"The Chevrolet Spark is the world's newest-generation compact city car," according to GM India President and Managing Director Rajeev Chaba.  "It sets a new standard for its segment through its modern design, clever space utilization, affordability and solid engineering."

      Modern, Dynamic Styling

The Spark is one of the world's most popular mini-cars.  Since its launch in 1998, about 2 million have been sold in well over 100 markets.  "Evolution not revolution" was therefore the motto for the team designing the new-generation Spark.

Specialists from General Motors' design center in Korea joined designers from Italdesign in Italy to develop the first concept models.  Although its modern, dynamic styling makes the Spark look more grown up than ever before, it has retained the "smiling face" of the previous generation.  Its large round headlamps with integrated indicators are complemented by strikingly large circular taillamps.

Up front, the combination of a robust bumper and large air intake communicates a new sense of sportiness.  The overall appearance is dominated by a marked wedge form with short body overhangs.  The powerful look is underlined by the profile of its hood.  Steeply rising shoulder lines and converging feature lines in the hood extend through the front fenders, adding tension and dynamism.  Two striking V-shaped feature lines give the Spark a three-dimensional look.  Steel surfaces continuing through to the front side windows offer an unusual and harmonious link to the side profile.

The exterior design also features smart elements like a rear spoiler, satin silver roof rails and body side moldings, which are standard on the top trim level.  Fitted alloy wheels, a first in the mini segment, will be offered as an option.

The fun exterior is complemented by a groundbreaking interior, which has a completely redesigned cockpit.  The operating elements of the design are divided into two parts.  In the driver's direct line of vision is a semi-circular display area with ergonomic controls and warning lights.  Positioned at the center of the dashboard and easily visible to all occupants are the speedometer and instruments, which feature a combination of analog and digital displays.  The interior is richly appointed across all trim levels, with high-quality fabrics used on seats and door trims.

      Outstanding Comfort and Convenience

Thanks to its intelligent packaging and 2,345-mm wheelbase, the five-seater offers a comparatively large amount of space and a feeling of roominess.  The Spark comes with a generous assortment of standard convenience features and smart storage spaces.  Cup holders, card holders and seat-back shopping hooks are standard.  Also standard and extremely useful are internally adjustable outside mirrors that drivers will find a boon in dusty Indian driving conditions.  High-performance air conditioning calibrated for India's climate offers precise cabin cooling never before available in the Spark's segment.

Depending on the trim level, standard equipment may also include hydraulic power-assisted steering, electrically operated front and rear windows, and a digital clock.  In the LT trim, the rear-seat backrest can be divided in a 60:40 ratio, enabling longer objects to be transported easily.  The LT trim also features a sunglass holder in addition to a rear washer-wiper system and defogger.

With its compact body dimensions (length x width x height: 3,495 mm x 1,495 mm x 1,518 mm) and its small turning radius (4,600 mm), the Spark is not only extremely maneuverable, it also fits into any parking space.

      Unmatched Fuel Economy

"Because of its range of mini-car benefits and unmatched fuel economy, the Spark is the ideal vehicle in these times of rising fuel costs," said Rajeev Chaba.

GM Daewoo engineers developed the economical yet powerful new S-Tec engine exclusively for the Spark.  The four-cylinder 1.0-liter gasoline engine delivers peak power of 63 ps @ 5,400 rpm and peak torque of 90.3 Nm @ 4,200 rpm.  Power and torque are maximized at lower speeds, making the Spark ideal for commuting in congested city traffic as well as on open highways.  The peak power per engine displacement volume is the highest in the Spark's segment.  The engine has been optimized via a number of technical improvements such as the adoption of low-friction valve gears, sequential multi-point fuel injection (MPFI), a dual distributor-less ignition system (DDLI), a motorized throttle intake system (MTIS) and advanced optical sensor.  A reduced curb weight and more aerodynamic styling further improve the Spark's low drag coefficient of 0.342, giving it the best fuel efficiency of any vehicle in the market.

      Enhanced Safety

Engineers actively utilized state-of-the-art technologies and high-grade materials to enhance safety.  Fifty-one percent of the total weight of the Spark's body cell consists of high-strength steel, providing great rigidity and stability while lowering the weight by 10 kg.  Precisely defined load paths with an energy-absorbing hexagonal profile protect passengers in the event of a head-on or rear-end collision.
