I recently had a test drive of Logan 1.4L petrol topend version. I really enjoyed the drive. Engine is very refined. Gear shift is very smooth. Interiors look classy. Its has the widest tyres in its class giving very good road grip. But was a little bumpy on smaller potholes.
It has a wide and respectable look. Very spacious and comfortable inside. The maker has been generous when it comes to space. It has a 510 litre boot space. Good leg space & head room. I being a 6 feet tall guy , found it very comfortable. With AC on and windows tightly closed , i had a very rosy drive! ... Engine makes absolutely no sound at all !!
The balance of power , torque and pick up is quite good. Overall good driving pleasure but found a little bumpy on smaller potholes. Gound clearance is average.
Tyres(tubeless radials) are 15 % wider than Hyundai Acsent and widest in its class , the result - fantastic road grip.
Interiors are classy and stylish , colour of the interiors are sober and look respectable , but the interior design is standard and no options to choose from like other vendors offer. Has a pretty good cockpit. But power window / central locking buttons look a little simple.
The car looks majestic from the front and sides. The rear view lacks a little in styling and looks old fashioned. But with an extra spoilers with break lights fitted on the boot can solve this problem , making it look stylish. Alloy wheels really make the car look sporty. The car looks best in Red and Beige shades(personal opinion).
One more negative point is - the wiper and indicator shafts have been interchaged. Wiper at the right and indicator shaft at the left. It may sound a little confusing at the beginning , but can be buried down with time. This is adopted from the european styling I guess.
As per dealer , the mileage would be 11 km/ltr in city and 14 km/ltr on highway (with AC and music ON) , which is quite good.
Safety wise , all models have collapsible steering which is a strong point to consider .. while topend models have air-bag and honeycomb designed chassis as an addition.
Pricing is 5.2 lakhs on road (Bangalore) - high end model (1.6L petrol) which is 2 lakhs cheaper than its deisel brethern. TRUE VALUE FOR MONEY. [You can cover two years of your fuel cost by buying a petrol car ;-)]
I would like to summarise - its the best car in terms of 'Value for money' .. Refined noiseless engine , best gear shift in its class , looks respectable , wide body , spacious and classy interiors , superb boot / leg space , fantastic road grip and good driving pleasure.
I beleive this is the best car for an upper-middle-class indian family.
Refined Engine , Smooth Gear Shift , Wide body & tyres, Comfortable and Spacious , VALUE FOR MONEYSuspension , Styling
