Exterior Good paint quality, looks pesentable though not at all eye catching. Accessories in vx do improve looks but at a cost.

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Excellent space, comfortable back seats as they are spacious though not well cushioned. dash looks made of very poor quality plastics. Interior colour is very downmarket. Look at the side mirror adjuster knobs-they are so small you cannot even hold them comfortably. Boot is small with fairly high loading lip. sound insulation is very poor. I have a i10 and it is really quite with the windows up.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox Performance okay for sedate city driving. try rapid acceleration and you will be dissapointed at the response. ride over broken roads and you will feel the sharpness of bumps are well dampened as compared to my i10 which gets really bouncy on poor roads. I have no idea of the FE but i do not expect it to be mind boggling. the gear box is very soft and easy to operate. liva also has a beautifully compact turning radius.

Ride Quality & Handling Ride quality is good and handling predictable.

Final Words Toyota tells us that they had to do rigorous cost cutting to achieve a acceptable price for the liva. Sir the liva is by no means inexpensive. the obvious cost cuttings are extremely glaring at this price compared to ANY hatchback. even the i10 has better interiors, has a good and poweful engine and no evidence of cost cutting except the one piece front seat backrests.

If you buy the liva you would have to buy it on the strength of the company and belief in their quality rather than on the apparent quality of the car. who knows it might turn out to be like the indestructible qualis which had nothing to appreciate till you realised years after what toyota calls the Q class.

The etios is excellent at that price point with minimum competition, but is the liva as desirable in the stiff competition of the hatchbacks.

Areas of improvement  interiors, interiors, interiors and interiors.

Very good paint quality, good ride comfort, very light clutch and steeringPrice- cost cutting excessive
