Toyota has put up a Hybrid Synergy Drive simulator at the 2016 Auto Expo. The simulator can seat up to four adults and is set up to give the hybrid experience.
The simulator has a typical car layout with two individual rear seats instead of a bench. The participants are given headphones and virtual reality headsets. Once ready, the simulator gives the participants a complete hybrid experience.
It explains how while starting or driving at a constant speed in low and mid-speed ranges, the vehicle uses electricity from the battery which drives the motor which reaches full power instantly. Furthermore, while deceleration and braking, the motor is activated as a generator to convert the moving vehicle’s kinetic energy into electricity and charging the battery (Regenerative Braking).
During the reveal of the new generation Prius, Mr Naomi Ishii, Managing Director, Toyota Kirloskar Motor said, “India being a crucial market for us, we believe there is more to the market beyond just the numbers. We have taken good stock of our priorities for the road ahead and we do not want to make just more vehicles but also want to address other critical issues associated with energy, environment and safety with our revolutionary hybrid technology.”
