Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has tasted quite a bit of success with the launch of the Elite i20 this month. The updated car is the second generation version of the i20 and is already enjoying a good demand in our country. The company has registered 15,300 bookings for the car since its launch on August 11, in Delhi.

Mahindra & Mahindra, today announced its vehicle sales numbers for August , which stood at 35,175 units. The total passenger vehicles sold were 14,140, in August 2014, as compared to 15,812 units during the same period last year. The passenger vehicle sale is down by about 11.8 per cent, whereas the overall sales (which includes commercial vehicles) is down by 7.7 per cent.
Japanese car manufacturer Nissan has revealed that it has secured a 60.3 per cent increase in sales by selling 3,999 units last month. A definite growth since August 2013 saw Nissan India sell 2,494 units.
Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) has announced a growth of 88 per cent in August this year. The company sold 16,758 cars last month while they had sold 8,913 units in the corresponding month last year.
BMW has released a batch of 251 photos and a few videos to showcase its new model the M4 Cabriolet. The cabrio features a three-section folding metal roof that takes a little under 20 seconds to open and close and works at speeds up to 18kmph (11mph).
Hyundai has revealed that the Elite i20 has registered more than 12,000 bookings, in less than 20 days of its launch. The Elite i20 has accomplished this feat despite facing some stiff competition from the recently updated B+ segment hatchbacks- the Volkswagen Polo and the Fiat Punto Evo. While the Hyundai i20 always managed to accumulate decent numbers, the Elite i20 seems to have eclipsed its predecessor in terms of its performance in the domestic market.
Driven by the strong sales of the EcoSport, Ford India has registered a 27 per cent hike in the overall domestic sales and exports. Though the domestic sales numbers fell by more than 15 per cent, strong export numbers helped the company maintain a comfortable growth in the August, as compared to the corresponding period in the last year.
Maruti Suzuki registers a 26.9 per cent increase in sales numbers for August 2014. The company sold 1,10,776 units last month in comparison to 87,323 cars sold in the same month last year.
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has had a good run in the past month and its sales figures are proof. The largest passenger car exporter in India registered domestic sales of 33,750 units and exports of 14,361 units with cumulative sales of 48,111 units in August.
The announcement of Suzuki Motor Corp building a solo plant in Gujarat created a furore among investors. Dark clouds still gloom over this development, but Maruti is certain that minority stakeholders will accept this development and there is no Plan B (if they don’t accept).
