Suzuki Indonesia has launched the 2013 Splash with an option of automatic transmission – the same hatchback is sold in India as the Ritz and has received an update in last September. This was the second Suzuki car to get an update in Indonesia last week, as the company is now also offering Ertiga AT is the South Asian country.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor sold 9007 units in the month of April as compared to 14, 378 units in the corresponding period last year resulting in a decline of 37 per cent. The Bengaluru-based Japanese automaker also exported 1449 units in April and had a cumulative sales of 10, 456 units. 

General Motors India has registered a 2.4 per cent growth in April. The company sold 8196 vehicles in April as compared to 8005 units in the same month last year. The total sales include 3436 units of the Sail (Sail U-VA and Sail sedan), 1986 units of the Beat and 1571 units of the Tavera.

The Brio platform is one of Honda’s major developments for the Asian markets. The platform currently underpins a hatchback; the Brio, a sedan; the Amaze and a third design that will be an MPV that is currently being developed by PT Honda Prosect (Indonesian subsidiary). Going by the success of the Amaze and the Brio, It now seems that the vehicle is now more important to Honda than we imagined as they are believed to have sent in some of their technical experts from Japan to Indonesia to speed up development of the vehicle.

Chevrolet has officially confirmed that it will launch the Enjoy MPV for the Indian market on May 9. The American automaker had earlier updated its official website to include the Enjoy and has revealed most of the features and the interiors. 

Mahindra Automotive may rework the ground clearance of vehicles in a bid to reduce the excise levied on them. The Indian SUV major is one of the worst affected by the revised excise duty announced during the 2013 Union Budget, as the duty on SUVs has been hiked from 27 per cent to 30 per cent.

Hyundai Motor India exported 24, 551 units in April as compared to 19, 536 units in the corresponding period last year, resulting in a 25.7 per cent increase.  However, the domestic sales was 32, 403 units in April as compared to 35, 070 units resulting in a decline of 7.6 per cent. The Korean automaker experienced a cumulative growth of 4.3 per cent. 

Nissan has launched a special edition of its GT-R supercar called the Track Edition.  This special edition car has been designed with the sole purpose of making an already powerful and fast car even better. It features aerodynamic, mechanical and cosmetic changes. 

Honda Cars India has managed to sell 8488 units in April as compared to 7075 units in the corresponding period last year achieving a growth of 20 per cent. The Japanese automaker has already sold 4852 units of the Amaze sedan in the month April. The compact sedan was launched amid much fanfare by the Japanese automaker on April 11 for Rs 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and had managed to garner 2552 bookings even before the car was launched last month.
