"We have decided to increase the prices of all our vehicles up to Rs.10,000 depending upon the model with effect from the 1st week of June on account of increase in transportation costs/logistics due to hike in diesel price. In percentage terms, the increase goes up to 1.5 per cent depending on the model," said P Balendran, vice president, General Motors India.

The MPV thanks to its Chinese lineage, has decent amount of interior space. The vehicle is available with standard 2+3+3 seating configuration and 2+2+3 seating with bucket seats for the middle row. Like the Sail twins, this vehicle gets beige interior across all variants. The top-end variants also gets a music player with USB and Bluetooth, steering mounted audio controls, A/C ducts for second row, ABS-EBD and two airbags.

The Enjoy is powered by two sets of mills; the 1.3-litre Multijet diesel that produces 78PS of power at 4000rpm and 188Nm of torque at 1750rpm. The petrol engine on the other hand is a new four-cylinder 1.4-litre mill producing 104bhp at 6000rpm and 131Nm of torque at 4400rpm. This engine is being assembled at the American automaker’s Ranjangaon Plant. Power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a five-speed manual gearbox for both the diesel and petrol variants.  The Enjoy is available in six colour options i.e. Velvet Red, Switchblade Silver, Sandrift Grey, Linen Beige, Caviar Black and Summit White. 

Chevrolet will roll-out the Enjoy from their plant in Halol, Gujrat. It will compete with vehicles like the Nissan Evalia, Mahindra Xylo and the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.

The Enjoy is powered by a 1.3-litre Multijet diesel and 1.4-litre Petrol engine. The diesel engine produces 78PS of power and 205Nm of torque and also powers the U-VA and the Sail sedan. On the other hand, the petrol engine produces 77.1PS and 187Nm of peak torque and is being manufactured at GMs plant here in India. Both engines have been mated to a five-speed manual gearbox that sends power to the rear wheels.

This is the third product from the American automaker as a part of their 2013 strategy. It launched the facelifted Spark hatchback in October 2012 and this was then followed by the Sail siblings. We expect that the fourth product will be the facelifted Beat hatchback.

The Enjoy will be manufactured at the company’s Ranjangaon facility and will directly compete with Nissan Evalia and Mahindra Xylo. We are expecting the car will be priced somewhere between Rs 6.5 lakh to Rs 8.5 lakh.

Top Gear has also revealed that the Enjoy is quite spacious inside and that on the top-end variant, the second row of seats do not flip forward, rather there is a space between them to access the third row.  The top-end variant also gets integrated music system with AUX and USB compatibility. A surprise on the Enjoy is also the fact that the Chevrolet has installed a roof mounted aircon for the second row. 

The MPV was unveiled as a concept vehicle during the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo and has been spotted testing in various locations across the country. Basically a RHD version of the Wuling CN 100 van, the Chevrolet Enjoy is expected to be launched sometime next month and will compete with likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the Mahindra Quanto. 

Meanwhile, General Motors India has announced the nationwide Chevrolet U First Camp with multiple services under one roof at over 250 dealer workshops across the country. The key highlights of service camp include free service check-up, discount on parts and labour for all the mechanical jobs undertaken during the camp. The camp is being held from April 19 – 21 between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm.

The Enjoy MPV is basically a right-hand-drive version of the Wuling CN-100 van which was developed GM and its Chinese partner SAIC.  It will be powered by a 1.3-litre multijet diesel mill which produces 90bhp and 127Nm of torque. This is the same mill used in a variety of diesel vehicles produced by Tata, Maruti Suzuki and Chevrolet and obviously Fiat as well.

On the inside, the Enjoy is expected to get a 3+2+2 flexible seating as the second and third row of seats can be folded flat for extra luggage space, which is almost non-existent with third row in place.  It will also get features like power windows, rear AC vents and music system with USB compatibility. The safety features on the Enjoy will include two airbags and ABS-EBD for the top-end variants.

The Enjoy is being targeted both at the passenger and fleet market. It will compete with vehicles like the Nissan Evalia, Tata Winger, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Force Motors Viggiano and Mahindra Xylo.

At the launch of the Sail sedan, GM announced that the Enjoy will be launched in the next couple of months, along with confirmation that the test production has already begun at its plant.

Basically a RHD version of the Wuling CN-100 van, the Enjoy will be manufactured at GM’s Talegaon plant and will be priced in the range of Rs 5.5 to Rs 8 lakh. The Enjoy will be powered by the 1.3-litre multijet engine, which was jointly developed by Fiat and GM. Just like the turbocharged mill used in the Ertiga, this unit is also expected to produce around 90bhp and 127Nm of torque.

General Motors has already introduced the updated versions of the Tavera (Neo 3), the Captiva and the Cruze this year. The Chevrolet Sail U-VA hatchback will be launched by end of October; it will be followed by launch of the Spark facelift soon. GM will also launch the Sail sedan, all-new seven-seater MPV ‘Enjoy’ and the Beat facelift before end of March 2013.

Speaking on the development, Rakesh Mohan Sabbarwal, vice president General Motors, said “Lots of new models are coming up for the Indian market. We are discussing about 7- 8 models over the next 5-6 years." However, he did not specify any details about the vehicles.

Rakesh also said that GM India had received requests from some of the American auto major’s operations in other countries to supply powertrains manufactured locally. The issue is currently under discussion with our parent company, he added.
