Ford India registered an impressive overall sales growth of 41 per cent with 21,346 vehicles sold last month compared to 15,033 vehicles in October 2017. The domestic sales increased to 9,044 vehicles from 4,218 units in the same month last year. Meanwhile, the exports stood at 12,302 vehicles compared to 10,815 units in October 2017.
Anurag Mehrotra, president and managing director, Ford India, commenting on the sales performance, said, “The industry continues to face headwinds of low consumer sentiment, high fuel price and interest rate in the near term. At Ford, we continue to deliver on our four strategic pillars of Strong Brand, Right Product, Competitive Cost and Effective Scale, that has enabled us to grow faster than the industry”.
Even compared to September, the sales are on an upsurge. In September 2018, the American car maker’s domestic sales stood at 8,239 units and exports at 11,749 units. The combined sales were 19,988 vehicles in the month of September 2018.
Last month, Ford updated the Aspire compact sedan for the first time since its launch in 2015. The mid-life refreshment comes with a new petrol heart and comprehensively updated interiors. The compact sedan has been launched in 11 trim levels with three powertrain and two transmission options and is available at a handsome price that undercuts its direct rivals.
