Porsche 911 Targa's facelifted version spied testing

Porsche unveiled the 911 Targa at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January this year. Surprisingly, a facelifted version of the car was sighted testing, hinting that the manufacturer is already working on a refreshed version which might be launched next year.

The facelifted 911 Targa gets mild styling updates that give the car a fresh look. The fascia sports redesigned DRLs, new headlamps and new air intakes hinting that there might be changes to the powertrain.  The car may feature an active grille-style function that will assist in saving fuel. There are revisions at the back of the car as well, with primarily the new tail lamps and addition of a wider third brake light. The bumper is revised as well where the centrally-positioned exhaust system can be seen.

Apart from these cosmetic changes, Porsche might equip the Targa 911 with the latest turbocharged engines. In fact, apart from the GT3 and GT3 RS models, the rest of the cars from the 911 line-up now get these engine options. This means both the Porsche 911 Targa and 4S facelift cars will replace the current 3.4-litre six-cylinder engine and the 3.8-litre six-cylinder naturally-aspirated mill. While the former churns out 350bhp of power, the latter produces 400bhp of power and the new turbocharged engines are still expected to match this power output.

The Porsche 911 Targa 4S is currently not available in the Indian market, however with the company's plans of launching new lifestyle products for the Indian market, we never know the manufacturer might even bring the sports car to the Indian soil. The carmaker launched the much-awaited compact SUV, the Macan, in July this year. Porsche has extended its dealer network in our country and has showrooms in Mumbai, Gurgaon, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Kochi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Kolkata.
