Jaguar to launch locally assembled XJ next month

Tata-owned luxury carmaker Jaguar plans to assemble yet another model from its production facility near Pune. The carmaker has been assembling the XF 2.2-litre diesel model from this facility for over a year, and now it plans to begin operations to assemble its flagship model – the XJ.

By taking the local assembly route, Jaguar is said to bring down the price of the XJ to about Rs 95 lakh (ex-showroom, Maharashtra). Now it may not sound very affordable to many but considering that the existing XJ, which comes in as a CBU (completely built unit), costs Rs 1.16 crore (ex-showroom, Mumbai) the price reduction is sure to come in handy for those looking to buy this striking looking luxury sedan.

Things are looking even better for those meaning to book the XJ, as Jaguar is also expected to add a few creature comforts in the car. The brand, in fact, offer the locally assembled XJ with individual reclining seats in the rear with three massage settings, rear seat height and lumbar adjustment. What’s more? The car will also feature LED reading lights at the back and electric side blinds apart from more headroom for rear occupants.

Jaguar is expected to launch the locally assembled XJ by next month. The reduced price tag and additional features are more than likely to work in favour of the car and the brand as it will help Jaguar compete better in the premium end of the luxury sedan segment which is currently dominated by the Germans namely Mercedes-Benz, Audi and BMW.
