Mini Countryman facelift goes live before New York Motor Show debut

A new version of the Mini Countryman has been revealed ahead of its debut at the upcoming 2014 New York Motor Show. Armed with a number of cosmetic and mechanical updates, the facelifted crossover from the British premium small car maker is set to go on sale globally by mid-2014.

As expected, the Countryman’s new fascia is very similar to the one seen in the all-new Mini launched last year. There’s a revised grille, LED daytime running lights and new design for alloy wheels. Among the innumerable customizable options that the Mini range currently offers, the new Countryman also comes with three new exterior colour shades: Jungle Green metallic, Midnight Grey metallic and Starlight Blue metallic.

Inside, Mini has included the latest version of the Mini connected in-car infotainment system. Additionally, the cabin also gets a revised instrument cluster and chrome infested switchgear. The engine range, meanwhile, is the same, comprising of 4-cylinder petrol and diesel units. Having said that, Mini claims it has improved the 1.6-litre unit found in the Countryman S for better performance and drivability.

Mini has confirmed that the market launch of all the variants including the John Cooper Works Countryman has been scheduled for July 2014.
