I have had a great experience with this car. At around 6.30 lakhs, the VDI version is a real steal. The performance is the same as the Swift VDI, awesome power and pickup, and since I have driven only about two weeks its too early to say anything about the mileage. The interiors are nicely done with the backseat being as comfortable - if not more comforatable than the front seats. Maruti has done the integretation very well with the boot not looking like a sore thumb and the boot space is huge.

Overall I feel that Dzire is more value for money than its deisel compitetors viz. Feista and Verna. Though each of the cars has a niche customer base but the fact that Dzire has almost a two month waiting period after its launch says it all.

      Hi,
after waiting for two months i got my RED ZDi delivered on 13th June. i was told i was very lucky to have the delivery so soon so i will not go into the waiting aspect and concentrate more on the car and its features etc.

Just after taking the delivery i took the car from Chandigarh to Delhi and then from Delhi to Jaipur.  There we drove it in city and on kuccha road equally. within two days i was back in chandigarh through the same route driving 1300 Kms in 3 days with appx 800 highway driving and 500 city.

The car is a treat to drive. The diesel in very silent and there is hardly much cabin noise. The coil does not need any time to start. the wider tyres on ZDi and alloy wheels give a very solid feel to the car and it gulps ditches and bad roads quite well. the climate control is very nice - just set the temperature and the rest is taken care. During way back to Delhi from Jaipur, there was lot of rain and the demister worked very well giving a clear view. Gear shifting is no problem and pick up is superb.

the car reaches 120 kmph within a blink on higway and at speeds upto 125, it is very stable and you are very much in control. ABS braking is spot on. it just comes to stop within short distance.

The average i got was about 20 with AC (climate control) always on.
Night driving is easy as the lights are good and give a clear road view.
Steering is light and city driving is very smooth.

Ride comfort for both driver, co-passengar in front and back is very good. six feet people can sit in front and back. 3 people at the back is yet to be tested.

all in all, it is the best value for money.
The trunk is 440 litres but due to the beams it gets reduced somewhat.

The steering mounted controls are the best part. while in delhi i was easily changing FM channels without searching for the button on the control. When ever there was a mobile ring, you could mute and unmute without taking your eyes off the road.

The dial illumination in the night time is very nice. Even the illumination on the integrated sterero and the cigeratte lighter is very good. Two lights in the front and one in the middle are more than enough for night reading.
In city also, the car is giving mileage of 20 kmph.

Earlier i had to fill 1000 per week petrol. Now i fill 1000 rupees for a full month.

Good Fuel Economy, Good style, Cooling, BrakingBoot bar in the trunk

Exterior Other may say hundred bad things about its looks and bad style but for me it is stylish. First time I saw this car two years back in a Mall in West Delhi. The first thing came to my mind was this car is so cool why are not people buying this..(I have not seen many of them on road by then). Then I was told by my friend that it has waiting period of 5-6 months, I was in love with the car from the very first time I saw it, So when I decided to buy a car the first name came to my mind was Dzire. But waiting period of 2-3 months was anooying me, still I finally decided and booked my Dzire, It is stylish and looks nice..

Interior (Features, Space & Comfort) Its interiors and features and fulfilling my Dzire..It is spacious, comfortable to drive and one will fall in love after driving it.

Engine Performance, Fuel Economy and Gearbox It is just amazing to Drive this car.. It looks big but I guess I can zip it around on Delhi roads with such a good performing engine.

Final Words You will fall in love with this car..just Test-Drive it  once.

Excellent pic-up, excellent car to rideDidn't notice yet any...

Firstly as far as the looks of the car goes, everyone of you knows, the car looks bad, the front doesnot gel at all with the rear and the front and rear look of two different cars. They have added a chrome grille which does not do much in making the car look visually appealing. Standing next to the Swift hatch, the DZire is longer from the B pillar onwards. Maruti has increased the lenght of the rear doors and also of the rear glass to prevent rear passengers from feeling claustrophobic. One of the main reasons why Swift Hatch has been such a success can be attributed to its looks, the Swift hatch looks the part and everyone always wanted one and some even tried turning it into a Mini, not the same with the DZire though.

The interiors are exactly like the hatch, with small touches like chrome rings around the speedometer and tachometer with white illumination. MSIL should have seriously given the DZire the beige treatment as the black and grey interiors have become boring. However even after increasing the length of the rear, the rear legroom is less then adequate. Infact its almost similar to the hatch, which is very disappointing indeed. Considering rivals like Indigo, Accent, Ikon & Logan have much better legroom, i dont know how good a idea is to have a chauffer if you own a DZire.

Coming to the engine, the car comes with two engine variants, one the 1.3L G13BB of the Swift Petrol, which is a tad disappointing again. It doesnot want to move on low revvs and needs to be revved hard to extract the best out of the powerplant, i was seriosuly hoping MSIL would give the M Series engine here but i dont know what the guys at Maruti are smoking, i mean common you cant expect a car with 113NM torque to pull a 1100kg car with ease. On the other hand, the diesel DZire is a gem, with 193NM torque, the car pulls like a locomotive on rails. Its slightly slower then the hatch but thats almost negligible. The DZire just weighs 30kgs more then the Swift hatch. The diesel engine will be the one which will be having the most sales and i wont be suprised if Maruti have a long waiting period for the diesel variant. Expect FE to be similar as the hatch, ~14 in City, ~19 on the highway.

The Braking was very good, similar to the hatch but the handling is slightly on the negative side compared to the hatch. I think a prospective buyer will be comparing the DZire not with the Swift hatch but with cars in its segment like the Indigo, etc & thats where the Swift DZire has a slight edge in terms of A.S.S, VFM, Engine, Fuel Efficiency. The quality of the car is yet to be seen, Swift's are prone to rattle earlier on in life and hopefully Maruti should have sorted the rattling issues with the DZire. The car has 440litres of boot space, which is adequate for a car of this class. There are six varaints LXi, VXi, ZXi in petrol and LDi, VDi, ZDi in diesel. The latter two are fantastic value for money with loads of features like ABS, Dual Airbags, Alloys, Climate Control, Music System, Audio Controls on Steering Wheel, etc and priced around 50k more then the Swift hatch.

As a replacement for the Esteem the DZire is fantastic, but would i put my money on it, if i was looking for a car in that segment, certainly not, it looks too ugly for my tastes and ill wait till the look of the car grows on me, then maybe i might convince myself to buy one, but at the moment i wouldnot want myself to be seen in something which looks that out of shape :p

I have driven the vehicle approx.1800 kms. My route is partially city and partially highway drive.I have got milage of 13.5 to 14kms/litre with AC(80% of time) in these conditions which appears good enough during initial run.

I was earlier driving a Santro Xing. Comparing driveability alone, I find this car much superior in clutch(very soft and smooth) and gear(except 4th to 5th gear shift- which is not so smooth). Power Brake of Santro was more sensitive (or may be I got used to that). However the only annoying problem I find is of steering pulling towards left. I mentioned it at the time of first service - but no change. Then I took it again to same service station for same reason. They again claimed to check/adjust wheel alignment but alas it remains the same issue. May be all swift/dzire cars are like that ? (can some other owner throw some light on this?).

As far as style is concerned I like its rear engineering by Suzuki India engineers though they would have done a still better job by changing its front appearance a little more than a minor cosmetics.

Having said that, I am fully satisfied with its interiors, comfort and other good and useful features compared to its competitors (in price) like Logan, Accent etc.

I can safely recommend this car to  prospective buyers in this price segment.

Today  I got the delivery of my new car Dezire Vdi. It looks amazing in clear beige colour. I have already done 500 kms running and have noted some points -

1.It has an excellent noiseless engine ,its hard to believe that you are driving a diesel car.

2.Excellent pick up, no problems in overtaking with AC on.

3.Excellent mileage- hard for me to believe that i got 21km/lit  70%highway and 30% city driving . Still first servicing has to be done.

      4.Good suspension.

5.Decent music system. Initially when i took test drive of vehicle i was not impressed with the quality of sound and thereby decided to change speakers and add woofer and amplifier to enhance its effect, but after i got my car ,i don 't know why but i was really satisfied with the sound quality of it. I dont know whether they have made some alteration in it or what ,but now i have no plans of changing it. I have checked music system and speakers esp JBL and SONY,but now i see that there is no need for change.

6.The interiors of car are also quite decent as compared to the cars of the same category.Nice comfortable bucket seats.

7.The gears are very smooth. The side mirrors are also good.

8.The  ground clearance is very good.Boot space is much larger as compared to Indigo CS or Ford Ikon.

Overall i am very much satisfied with car ,its a VFM  car.

Good fuel economy, good design, smooth drive ,great powerlong waiting period, should provide ABS brakes and Broad tyres

Style & comfort definately a plus. But, performance on road is not upto the expected level. Especially noticeable when cilmbing hills even on 1st gear the engine simply cries. There is no low fuel  warning indicator. But overall for city driving it is ok. But honestly for such a money, I should have gone for Hyundai Accent/ Ford/ Logan. Moreover, the dealership (Vitesse at Andheri, Mumbai) is simply horrible. Rude to the point of squaring up my money paid on extended warranty, without any notice or letter, to some small insignificant amount due for the number plate.Even the Maruti company officials are unhelpful except sending some useless questionnaire for feedback. Sucks!!!

My name is Sandeep Mhatre, Mumbai and have recently purchased VDi model. Today after driving 1500 kms with it I am happy that my decision to buy this car has been right. I am getting fantastic average (18km) in city with AC on.

I had changed my wheels to Neo Alloy wheels and Michelin 85/70/R14 tyre. The changes have made a vast difference in the driving pleasure.

I did not like the music system and the speakers provided by the maruti people and planning to change the same. The rear seats and leg room are ok, should have been little better, but the front seats are really comfortable..

The gear box is great but has some problem when trying to use reverse gear.

All the features are same as swift except the back seats which are slightly inclined for more comfort.

Anyone interested in buying an economical, comfortable and value for money car then I recommend this car.

Me facing the typical problem with my Dzire VDI. The engine just goes off when going down the slopes and its very serious as this could lead to crash. Have informed Maruti & local service provider, but they could not resolve it and still working on same. Have also seen people mentioning in reviews that they also have this problem.

Please note this issue occurs when both the padels (brake & cluth) are used together.

This is my analysis which I have reported to Maruti.

      1. Occurs mostly while going down the slope ( approx 80% on slopes & 20% on plain road).

      2. Error is totally intermittent.

      3. Engines shuts off immediately when the clutch is press fully ( ideally engine should remain in idling condition when gets disengaged from gear train).

      4. All controls gets disabled due to shut off of engine.

      5. Have to abort gear change and release the clutch to get the engine working again to enable the controls as speed is usually above 40 kms/hr during the error occurrence.

So anyone facing this problem, plase drive carefully as this can lead to casualties. Its alreday 50000 KMS now, and facing this issue right after 10000 KMS and still no fix.
